The title says it all, but I just downloaded "The Complete Poetical Works of William Cowper" as one of my free Faithlife Connect benefit (Awesome!)

I got to thinking how it would be great if there was a dataset to chronicle these excellent poems/hymns.

Has there ever been any conversation about this?

Datasets work with bible or bible-related data. How would "chronicling" this work benefit users?

A dataset doesn't inherently have to work with only bible-related data. I could imagine an index of all poems/hymns available in Logos resources, with author, date of composition, biblical quotes/allusions (if any), themes. Could be used the way sermon resources are used. Also obviously when searching for poems related to a certain biblical text or doing a Passage Guide, but also in Topic Browser.

This is along the lines I was thinking. The "personal letters" is something similar (admittedly I haven't used it much) If the poems could be indexed to themes and then matched to the existing verses connected to those themes, (or some cross-reference)  there would be a nexus of sorts to have them pop up as possibly relevant.

Yes

I can see it being implemented in the same way that the Psalms explorer is with faceted browsing.

If Personal Letters is an example, then I have some in the Early Church Fathers, but none are related to Bible Passages(PG) and I get nothing in Topic Guide for the author; when Factbook indicates there are Letters. The main connection is via a {Label Personal Letter} query.

I imagine that some would be bible-related, as with Poems and Hymns, but it really doesn't interest me.

Yes. It led the my throwing up my hands in frustration and start labeling to build what I expected FL to do in their handling of hymns. A simple case of the same word being used with different meanings leading me to make false assumptions. At this point I would be satisfied with FL sharing a compatible label as they do for sermons - it allows me to tag sermons where it is unrealistic to expect Logos to code them.

There's a large collection of songs (really, lyrics) at Faithlife Music, both contemporary and classic. These show up in Passage Guide for matching references, and Sermon Starter Guide for both topics (Preaching Theme) and references. We haven't attempted to cover poetry per se, however.
