Trying to make the switch from a ipad to the Surface Pro 6. I am having a tough time trying to figure out HOW to simply scroll a Logos document while in tablet mode. Instead of scrolling it selects text.

Bob, what do you mean by "tablet mode?" Are you referring to using the SP6 as a tablet without the keyboard attached or do you mean that you have implemented the tablet mode feature in Windows?

When using the SP6 as a tablet without the keyboard, I have been able to scroll a resource in a window by pressing down and holding my finger on the screen while swiping up and down. If you are using the pen to scroll, that could be a problem.

Bill,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the keyboard is detached, device is being held in portrait mode and no, I am not using the pen.

What I am trying to scroll is a sermon document not a resource.

Having come from the Mac world (ipad and MacBook Air) I am rather disappointed in this Surface Pro 6 in regards to Logos 8. The tablet mode should work similar to the way it works on an ipad. I do not have the pulpit room to allow me to keep the keyboard connected so my sermon will scroll  properly. There are many things to like by the tablet mode is NOT one of them! Why can't this be fixed?

There are a number of Logos users who would like to see Faithlife invest in a more touch-centric user interface.

If you search the forums, there have been a number of posts over the years on how to make the desktop app more suitable for touch navigation. For me, the SP 6 with its hardware made touch better than any other Windows tablet device I have owned. Many of us remember using 8-inch Windows tablets with 2 GB of RAM and installing Logos on a microSD card because we didn't have enough space on the internal HDD to run Logos. You should find some tips in the forums that will make it at least workable for you. But the first thing to realize is that the SP6 touch experience will never compare with the iPad.

Kinda sad to hear but I understand. I opted for the SP6 since L8 works better for me in Windows 10 than the Mac OS, particularly the sermon editor. I am NOT unhappy with my SP6 only wish it functioned better as a tablet. I have another Bible program which really works well on my SP6 in tablet mode but it DOES NOT have a sermon editor that will enable the making of slides in the process. It does however scroll and actually works quite well.

The iPad works great for Logos reading, but not so great for more detailed Bible study.  The Surface Pro works much better for study, but is not as smooth for reading.  That is frustrating.

Actually, I think the problem with the Surface Pro is not the fault of the Surface Pro.  It is Logos' fault for not making their software more touch friendly.  Why they have not done so is difficult to comprehend.  Other software has adapted well to touch technology.  This is a deficiency with Logos.

Overall, I think Logos is the best Bible Software in the world.  I have made a huge investment in Logos Bible Software over the last 25 years, and I will stay with it.  But I see friends who are not so invested in the software switching to other programs because the interface works better, the books are cheaper, and they do not need all of Logos' "bells and whistles".  I have had several friends who are former Logos customers tell me that in the past month.

I am still hoping Faithlife will develop a more touch-friendly interaction with the Full Logos Program, but I believe they could also mediate some frustration by revising and re-releasing the Windows APP/READER that was available in the Microsoft Store back when Windows8 released.

And releasing a version of the PROCLAIM REMOTE APP that would work under Windows 10 in Tablet Mode for those wishing for an iPad/Android tablet experience.
