Robert Neely:

I am doing a Rebuild Index now so it will be a while before i can post logs.

If Dave is correct, Rebuild index will not correct the problem

Dave Hooton:
So, it would appear to be an indexing issue (the software) as opposed to a problem with your local indexing.

How do you explain that Graham gets the correct results?

I look at it slightly differentlySmile

The results I am getting are the results that we should all be getting!

Hence the request for logs to see if those indicate any problem in the search function.

I do agree it is strange that multiple people are seeing the same problem.

Logos doesn't like something about my plato resources

I can reproduce the inability to search for "Nor when injured injure in return, as the many imagine; for we must injure no one at all" (or just "Nor when injured injure") at https://ref.ly/logosres/dialoguesplato2?ref=Plato.Pl.%2c+Crito+49&off=837&ctx=%0aCr.+Certainly+not.%0a~Soc.+Nor+when+injure

The bug only occurs when using the new search engine: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/133612.aspx

I've filed a bug report.

For reference I have the new search engine enabled but still get the expected search results.

Very strange!

This isn't actually the resource containing the quote - it is "Laws (English)" which doesn't contain this quotation.

That's a necessary, but not sufficient, condition. It only reproduces in very particular edge cases. This will be fixed in an upcoming release:

Thanks Bradley

J. Remington Bowling:

This morning I was wanting to look up the context of a passage that I already knew the reference too, but I thought "I'll just run the search and bring it up quicker" since I didn't know what volume it was in. Oddly, the search turned up empty.

I manually went and found what I was looking for and then copied and pasted the section I had attempted to search to see if I had written something wrong... No, the copy and paste of the sentence from my resource couldn't be found in my resources when I ran a search.

The sentence in question is this: "Nor when injured injure in return, as the many imagine; for we must injure no one at all" - the source is The Dialogues of Plato, vol 2, B. Jowett (or Crito 49)

When running the search with quotation marks, nothing comes up. When running the search without quotation marks, too many returns are given and I cannot sift them all right now to see if the resource in which this quote appears is returned in the search.

Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas? It's a bit frustrating to think that I may not be able to find something that I in fact have in my library.

This has been fixed in 8.8.
