Thanks for doing all that work. I found it useful in that it pointed out some translations by famous people that I own but had hidden when I'd indiscriminately hidden the entire Library of Early English History (it was cluttering my library and slowing things down, and I didn't want to take the time to pick out volumes of possible interest in it).

Amusing to see all the occurrences of openbracket-n-closebracket being turned into thumbs-down emojis in your post. Smile

Glad its of use ... I got a laugh at the negative evaluation as well ... but decided not to try to fix it.

I bought The Voice paraphrase back before I fully grasped the concept of The Great Unattended Ebook Publishing & Sausage Machine. I briefly considered converting it back into text and tagging it myself, but decided it would be too much effort for something that I wouldn't be able to share with others.

MJ:

Perhaps I am confused as to what this post is.  Are these PBs that are untagged?  If I click on them I get a notice that I don't own them.  If I right click the hyperlink and try to save them, the whole page of your post saves in html instead.  Can you share how we should use this excellent list?  Thanks.

No these are all Faithlife products. Faithlife does not code eBooks or the documents from Text Creation Partnership. Most of these are from the latter. I had also thought there were a few in the Perseus materials but I couldn't find them - or my memory was incorrect. How I use the collection varies from time to time - sometimes it is to see why early English commentaries make the comments they do, sometimes it is to trace the wording of hymns back to their metric psalter source, until a couple of years ago this was my only source for a Tyndale translation, sometimes it is for pure historical Englysh enjoyment. . .

These are all part of the Library of Early English History, which is a free bundle with thousands upon thousands of resources. I finally had to hide it all in exasperation since there's a lot of junk in there. Looks like nothing was error-corrected from being OCR'ed. No formatting. Might be a few gems in there, like these that MJ has listed, but a lot of dross to wade through to find them. So it's great that she's done that work.

EDIT: Egad! I see it's not free anymore. This and the Library of Early American History used to be free (unless my memory fails me and I'm conflating them with the Perseus bundles), but now the website is showing that it costs $902.99 (but I already own it). I would definitely not pay that much for this bundle.

You can read how the documents were created in wikipedia or at https://textcreationpartnership.org/

Wow.  Free no more.  My dynamic price is $902.96. Probably not. Especially for resources which may not be error-corrected or formatted.

Turns out I got it in pre-pub for $249.95, and the Library of Early American History similarly for $49.95. I think I probably still overpaid for the usefulness of the content. A whole bunch of really obscure documents that I'll never care about search hits in. A few old translations of hymns and psalms that might be of curiosity interest only. I'm not the type of scholar that these ancient primary sources would be of interest to.

It's too bad that the product description page doesn't list Resources Included. (The one for the Library of Early American History does. But similarly, I find the contents of that not worth keeping unhidden in my library. It was too much clutter.)

The resources are carefully transcribed and annotated to University standards but limited to what was available in Unicode i.e. Hebrew, Greek, Syriac not transcribed. It's value has decreased with the release of full Logos versions of some of the old Bibles esp. Tyndale. I purchased them specifically for the psalters. But, as Rosie indicated, the volume of them with no useful metadata make them as much of a problem as a solution.
