> Scroll buttons appear when there are more tabs than fit

Please, please, please tell me how to disable this feature and go back to previous way of having tabs shrink themselves!  Formerly, if there were more tabs than fit, the tabs shrunk themselves by using abbreviations instead of full names, and if that didn't work, they used an icon of the book cover instead of abbreviations.  That was method was vastly superior to the current approach of using full names and adding scroll buttons.  I often have 5 or 6 books in a panel, many of whom have really long names, and scrolling left and right among them is unacceptably slow and thus very painful.

My suggestion:

If full names fit, use 'em.

If not, try abbreviations.

If not, try icons.

If not, add scroll bars.

If that suggestion is not acceptable, please consider adding an option in preferences to let me choose between the old way and the new.

What you describe is how it's supposed to work. It should be fixed in the next release.

And, David, what's more interesting is this:  as I look around and work, I see that sometimes that *is* how it works.

I think I observe this:  upon application startup, the method that "shrinks the tabs" is not being called, so that tabs are at full size (and stuck there).  But if another event happens (such as closing a book in a panel), the method is called (for the tabs in that panel), and life is good.
