Interesting, but I wonder if we might be seeing another example of competing formats much like VHS vs Betamax or Blu-ray vs whatever the competitor was (I no longer remember). In those cases, customer preference drove the ultimate implementation. I imagine software developers would fall under "customer preference" when it comes to hardware.
I might be wrong of course, and by the time the markets have decided, and the transition moves from good to mandatory, It will probably be time to change my laptop anyway
The context of the article needs to be verified. I believe the developer is specifically talking ARM on Mac. If you read it as devouring Intel (and AMD) on other platforms, I think you have the tech equivalent of spies seeing Nephillim.
As I read it, it seemed that he was leading up to talking about ARM as the wave of the future, so in that sense, I don't think I'd agree with your analogy.
