For  clarification, you mean the Android version of the Logos Bible App in the Kindle Fire App Store. If I understand correctly, the answer is that it has been submitted and is awaiting approval from Amazon

Thanks, JT. Logos 9.0 is now available in the Kindle Fire app store. The minimum supported version is Android 7.0. Older Kindles may not be able to run Android 7.

We have heard several reports from users where they can't see the update and then they randomly can. It might be  a caching issue. Maybe try restarting the app store to see if that refreshes it.

I own a 7th gen Fire HD10 and a 9th gen HD10. Searching for "Logos Bible Software" in both tablets; L9 app only appears on the newer version.

Daniel,

When I look in the app store, it invites me to OPEN Bible Version 9.0.0, implying it's already installed. (I never got a notice that it had updated.) When I go ahead & open the app & check the version, it says the version is 8.10.1 build 810010281.

And it looks/acts a lot like the version I was using yesterday, including the same icon, not the new-improved "half" icon on my phone, which DOES look/act a little different.

Uninstalled, reinstalled, same story.

So, what's the real version number?

EDIT: after doing some research, it's a gen 7 tablet; even tho' 9.0 appears, it likely won't run on my 2yo tablet. :-(

Grace & Peace,
Bill

This is correct.

Great value hardware trapped in an antique ecosystem. I'm more determined than ever to get off Fire for my next tablet, given Amazon's increasing distance behind whatever the current Android O/S is. Gonna wait till I HAVE to upgrade, tho'. Tongue Tied

In July, Amazon released a tablet derived from Android 9.0. At the time, 10.0 was the newest. Now 11.0 is.

Newer Kindle tablets run the L9 app, older ones don't

Newer iPad's support the L9 app, older ones don't (see https://community.logos.com/forums/t/195698.aspx )

Is iPad an expensive device that runs old technology? Wink

Nope. An iPad is a moderate to expensive device that receives free iOS updates that keeps them running "up to date" for many years. Consider: the iPad Air 2 was released in 2014 (6 years ago) and is still on the update list to run the run released iPadOS 14. It is likely to be able to receive the newest updates to Logos for a year or two more... meaning that the device was able to be kept up to date for 7-8 years. That is a pretty good "value" to me!

Thanks much for this...

After looking at several Fire tablets in amazon this a.m., I couldn't find any info to point me to one. Do you have a link to the article or a tablet?

Thanks!

What you're looking for is a tablet that runs Fire OS 7.x, which is derived from Android 9.0. The complete list of devices sold in the US that run Fire OS 7--whether out-of-the-box or as an update--is here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=G2JXLC4L34GX73TE

It looks like all of the 8th, 9th, and 10th generation devices listed there will run Fire OS 7.

Here is a link to the 10th Gen Fire HD 8 Plus: https://www.amazon.com/All-New-Fire-HD-8-Plus-Tablet-and-Wireless-Charging-Dock/dp/B087FGFLCP

From there you should be able to easily navigate to see the other versions (which are probably all cheaper than the specific one in that link).

Please note that none of my posts in this thread should be understood as an endorsement of these new Fire tablets; they are only for informational purposes.

Understood, & thank you for the info... is there an Android tablet you'd recommend that'll hopefully be less of an antique so soon & whose pricing is anywhere near as attractive?

Anyone? Any "budget" Android tablet you can recommend that'll track with android updates longer than a Kindle will?

You may want to check with your cellular provider. When I was in the industry LG did some pretty sweet promotions with their GPad. I had 3 of these and 2 worked great (My kids have them and I believe they still work 6 years later). I had on that the screen went out after the 1 year warranty and LG did not offer any assistance with a solution. Here are some reviews - https://www.cnet.com/topics/tablets/products/lg/

I'm afraid I don't know. The answer may simply be "the cheapest tablet that runs Android 11", whatever that is.

Greetings Bill

I think it is always a misstep to look at the 'upfront' costs when purchasing technology type kit.

Much more important is 'total cost of ownership' which, when analysed can make purchasing more expensive kit (even with finance*) more economical than going the cheapest route.

*especially if the company is offering zero % finance)
