Dear Faithlife,
I want to ask why the NCCS 14 vols. Set is included in the Logos 9 packages, while there is the NCCS 16 vols. Set, the updated one? Don't you think that it would be nicer to have an updated package? Or is it a matter of price, considering that there would be a commentary to the book of Acts (2 vols.)?
Best regards,
fr.paul

We're volunteers not Faithlife employees but:

  • Packages at the same level have the same value as FL puts the packages together. It may be a matter of keeping to the intended price target.
  • Some contracts have limits on packaging and discounts ... it may be that the additional volumes are restricted and cannot be in base packages
  • Then there is the mysterious conjuring of the Faithlife hivemind which generates base packages that keep our minds exercised by trying to understand the rationale.

Or since they are deeply discounted, FL decided to include only 14 volumes to get you to want to have the other two volumes for $35.09 and since most people want to complete the set, they have no problem spending $35.09 in a bundle than paying $43.99 if they were to purchase those two remaining volumes separately.

It's all part of a business plan IMHO :D

The word "updated" in the original post suggests to me, without having done any research at all, that the two missing volumes are recently out of PrePub. Such volumes are not normally put in base packages. (Among other things, putting them in often frustrates the people who ordered them as PrePubs, given that the PrePub price of pretty much everything significantly exceeds the price of the same thing in a base package.)

You can now buy the two volumes on Acts parts 1 & 2 for $15 and change during the 12 Days of Logos sale (more like 12 deals for the season).

In the end, it comes down to how patient you can be. Often newer volumes are not included in package pricing, precisely because they are new and the sellers want to get new book prices as long as they still have the new book smell. (Or is that cars?) Either way, given enough time, usually about 2 years or so, when the newness wears off, the newer volumes get included in the discounted set price. You have to ask yourself how much of a hurry you are to get the new volumes, and if the answer is "need it now", you pay for that necessity.

The Blurb on Acts:

Product Page:
This book is one of the many commentaries on the book of Acts. In other words, it does not deal with a unique topic but one that borders on banality, yet of utmost importance. Without doubt, it will suffice its role of moving one step closer to a complete understanding of the complex picture that Luke drew.

Almost makes one think the page was compromised and changed to be that way. Then again maybe not! Surprise

Thanks for those links. In cases like this, the blurbs most often come from the publisher. I wonder if there was a translation deficiency from Korean?

You’re welcome! It was better than the previous two different prices  — one set for $43 and the other bundle  for $35.  For $15 it’s a steal!

I didn’t know this was a translation from Korean to English.  Someone just pointed that out.  Interesting 🤔

They are still dealing with banality but it's on sale this month for those who like the banal and yet utterly important kind of thing ;0

I read it in Michael F. Bird's voice (Series Co-editor). Seems to fit.
