I'm looking forward to it as well and very thankful for Community Pricing.

I don't know anything about Daniel Block. What I am going to say is just one isolated sentence from his commentary in the NIC on Ezekiel 36:27 [ESV: 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

Daniel Block's views seem to mirror M. Greenberg. Daniel Block writes: According to M. Greenberg, “God will no longer gamble with Israel as he did in old times, and Israel rebelled against him; in the future—no more experiments! God will put his spirit into them, he will alter their hearts (their minds) and make it impossible for them to be anything but obedient to his rules and his commandments.

To me, the idea that God gambled with Israel or experimented with Israel is a non-starter. That is reflecting a very small view of God.

The whole idea of gambling arises only if there is uncertainty. With God, there is no uncertainty. He knows all things before it occurs. He is infinitely wise. God has learnt nothing from watching humanity.

I am definitely not someone who likes to throw the baby with the bathwater, but I like the people whom I read from to have a massive view of God.

Perhaps there is more meaning in the word Gamble than taking chances or describing something that is outside the sovereignty of God. Depending on how narrowly we  define what God can and cannot do, then God may allow a range of behavior such as to eat fruit from a tree or not, to obey Mosaic Law or not. If we allow some choice in the matter, then the word gamble could apply and still maintain a massive view of God. I am with Bock in declaring that God did something new and different to put his spirit into them, he will alter their hearts (their minds).  I might have more concern about the declaration "...make it impossible for them to be anything but obedient to his rules and his commandments."  I don't yet know any normal human  like that.  I am looking forward to exploring the context of that quote.

Does anyone else have an issue with this course on mobile? I'm not able to download the videos for offline watching (on Android).

I cannot either, on iPad Pro. Streaming works just fine, but videos wont download.

Only watched a few videos, but the courses looks excellent. Can't wait to learn more about this fascinating book.
