Is there any chance of getting a LOGOS version of the Bile in Japanese?

Back in the '90s LOGOS did publish & marketed their software package in Japan.  (Anbody have one they will sell?)

Then, like men will do, there arose a big copyright contest that somehow made all digital versions of the Bible in Japanese disappear. It seems strange that we have multiple Chinese, Korean & other ideographic versions available but not one Japanese version. Has anyone successfully ported one into Lirbonix?  Can Personal Book Builder accomplish this with any functionality?

I agree that it would be great to have a Japanese Bible in Libronix. As for PBB, it's unicode based so you should be able to do it, but you'd have to have the source file and make sure it was in a unicode compatible Japanese font, as far as I can understand. But there are certainly other scripts in PBB, so there shouldn't be structural barriers.

Just make sure when you do pbb Bible that you do not use bigger HTML files than one Bible book. FOr some Bible books like Psalm it is even better to make them in a few HTML files. ALso you have to understand pbb BIble is not "full blood" libronix BIble. It serves the basic purpose, but you are limited with all the limits pbb has (no Visual Markups, no BIble search, just regular one, no insert to MSWord via Macro, no possibility to use it as your default Bible etc.) That is why I ask Logos so much to put our Czech Bibles (and other European translations) to Logos. The diference of the functionality is just too big.

Answering one's own post just feels wrong but here goes anyway............

I just noticed one of the "other" Bible software companies has added a second Japanese Bible version to their package.  So there are now two make that three English-based Bible software companies offering three Japanese language versions. Japan has roughly 130 million people. Since Japan is still vastly non-Christian by the loosest definiftion of the label and in need of evangelization I think ithere is truly a need to have a Japanese Bible version available in Logos. Sure missionaries could opt for the "other" guy's software but why make them settle for second best? Although the numbers are miniscule, Japaese Biblical scholarship has achieved a remarkably high level. There are several good translations now available and something could probably be licensed in spite of past quarrels. "KEEP HOPE ALIVE!" Big Smile

I know that we've done work with the Japanese Bible Society, including a reverse interlinear of the "NIT" text of the New Testament.

I don't know Japanese, but you can see some screenshots of the product at the below link. I'd guess you could purchase directly from the Japan Bible Society.

The Japanese NT Reverse Interlinear is the only Asian language reverse interlinear at present. We also have a Spanish reverse interlinear (RVR60) for OT and NT, but no Chinese.

Yes, I have this one. It is the famous Kralitz Bible translated by Unitas Fratrum Czech Brethren in 1579. The last edition is from 1613. Excellent work. Only KJV can be compared to it. It has been very unique since its 6 volume version had translation and explanation notes. The Logos version is actually the first edition from 1579. The name in Logos is not the best. "Podle původního vydání Kralického" means "According to the original edition of Kralice". We have 3 modern translations of the whole Bible and we are going to have the Catholic Jerusalem Bible also by the end of this year - and we NEED all of them them in Logos. Sorry, I know we are speaking about the Japanese Bibles here. I celebrate with you Smile. I looked to the link and that interlinears look really good. But don't tell it to George. He would come and spoil our joy...Big Smile

I suppose you could hide all except for one line (either the Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek line or the translation line.  If you only use one of the lines then an interlinear isn't so bad.

Did you happen to notice Rick Brannan Replied: Wed, Aug 12 2009 2:46 PM  with a link to a Libronix Japanese/Greek Interlinear package here:

Bob Pritchett recently commented Logos 4 will concentrate on developing for languages that have extensive reference works available. I guess they are leveraging the widest customer base for now. But Asia has been producing a lot of scholarly Bible works the past few decades in Chinese, Korean & Japanese. Several tomes have been written in native Indian languages. (even Mayanmar.) I would like to see the Bible text is every language possible.  These Christians you speak of keep appearing everywhere! Wink

I am not able to read much of that Japanese but I can see the logo of Libronix. Whatever works with the libronix engine, will work also in Logos 4 IMHO.

I posted a suggestion on the Logos UserVoice.com site (http://logos.uservoice.com/forums/42823-logos-bible-software-4/suggestions/2246258-japanese-version). If you're so inclined - add some votes to it. It'd be great to see an application like Logos with at least one version of the Japanese bible in it's collection (preferably a modern translation).

Super Tramp:
Several tomes have been written in native Indian languages.

Considering that there are South Asian Jews that may date back to the exile and Christians who claim to date back to the Apostle Thomas, this isn't surprising. BTW the Christians were part of the Syriac Church liturgically and doctrinally. Thanks to the Portuguese they are now split into Eastern Orthodox, Orthodox, Catholic and miscellaneous ... or at least that's what it looks like from the outside.Cool

Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."

Some scholars claim the Eastern religions have been influenced by worship practices of Judaism. I think there is probably some merit to their conclusions.

MJ. Smith:
Christians who claim to date back to the Apostle Thomas,

I have known many nationals from India who claim their churches have a documented heritage going back to Thomas.

MJ. Smith:
Thanks to the Portuguese

Christianity was brought to Japan by the Portuguese and Francis Xavier
