Description

Scripture Storyline guides the reader through the Old and New Testaments, showing how every section of Scripture is connected as part of a grand narrative of God’s redemptive work. As Chipman covers Old Testament passages, he explains their meaning, their place in God’s story, and how New Testament authors used and interpreted them to make sense of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. In New Testament passages, Chipman highlights how important the Old Testament is for proclaiming the gospel and for understanding God’s saving work.

Scripture Storyline is intentionally organized into 313 units of reading to be used as a companion for reading the entire Bible in one year, reading one unit per day, six days per week. Additionally, those studying books of the Bible together may use Scripture Storyline as a concise commentary to aid in comprehension and to facilitate deeper discussion of the meaning of each unit and its place in the Bible’s larger narrative.

By presenting each part of Scripture in relation to the larger narrative, Chipman invites readers to see Scripture through the lens of biblical theology, which prompts us to consider the progressive nature of God’s revelation, the development of theological themes, and the identification of types and patterns that are introduced and then developed from Genesis-Revelation.

Endorsements

“As a passionate advocate for Christ-centered exposition, I am thrilled to see Scripture Storyline released! Dr. Chipman has provided us with a wonderful text that deals with the details of particular passages while showing how they fit within the larger narrative of Scripture. It’s one thing to affirm the unity of the Bible, but it’s another thing to see how this works in text after text after text. The added feature of a Scripture reading plan also makes this book extremely beneficial to every Christian. I gladly recommend it, look forward to using it, and will be recommending it to my church.”
Tony Merida, Ph.D., Pastor, Imago Dei Church of Raleigh, NC, author of The Christ-Centered Expositor

“In an age where exegetes tend to atomize the text, Chipman keeps his sights focused on the big picture of Scripture, showing how the parts hang together and how the New Testament fulfills the Old. With the mind of a scholar and the heart of a pastor, he has spent years crafting this daily Bible reading tool to help his own congregation and the worldwide Body of Christ stay faithful to the overarching themes of Scripture. I’ve known Todd for over a dozen years, have seen the fruit of his life as he lives what he preaches, and I am thrilled that this treasure is now being made available to a wider audience. Soli Deo Gloria.”
Todd L. Price, Ph.D., Roma Bible Translation Team Coordinator, Pioneers, author of Structural Lexicology and the Greek New Testament

“I’ve known Todd Chipman since his first days as a theological student. For more than twenty years I have watched him mature as a man, husband, father, pastor, and scholar. Two things impressed me about Todd from the beginning and do so to this day: his devotion and diligence. Those two qualities are on display in both the existence and content of this book. For starters, simply the monumental scope and size of Scripture Storyline is manifestly the work of years of diligent study of the Scriptures. Second, Dr. Chipman’s devotion to Christ and His Word are evident on every page. One of the most useful features of this book is its versatility. It is not only helpful to pastors and accessible to laypeople, but it can be used as both a commentary and an in-depth daily devotional resource. But it differs from typical commentaries or devotional tools in that it connects every passage discussed to the storyline of all of Scripture. Some books help you understand the depth of the passage before you, while others show you how the text relates to the broader themes of Scripture. Few do both. This one does.”
Donald S. Whitney, Ph.D., Professor of Biblical Spirituality and Associate Dean, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, author of Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian LifePraying the Bible; and Family Worship.

“This excellent work is the fruit of a life of dedication to the Author of the Word. I have personally been challenged and blessed through the Daily Commentary emails. I am now honored to endorse Scripture Storyline as a timeless addition to your own Biblical studies library!”
Tom Rempel, Pastor, Faith Bible Church of Lincoln, NE

“Growing up in the church, I struggled with understanding how the stories in Scripture fit together into a coherent narrative. How I wish back then that I would have had Scripture Storyline in my hands! Dr. Chipman’s exhaustive work paints a clear picture of how the Old and New Testaments connect in the full light of the theological story that Scripture is telling. Whether you are a beginner at Bible reading or you been reading for years, this book will both equip and enhance your ability to practice faithful intertextual exegesis. As both a pastor and professor, I will highly recommend Dr. Chipman’s efforts here as an essential guide to the story God is telling through His divine authorship of the sacred Scriptures.”
C. Eric Turner, Ph.D., Chair, Division of Christian Studies and Assistant Professor of New Testament and Greek, Hannibal-LaGrange University, author of Hollow Gods: Idolatry in a Postmodern Context

I looked for some sample pages, and found none.

Many new FL books have no samples.

This dearth makes me reluctant to sign up here, and for others in the same boat.
