Dear Bob, Phil, Sean, Rick, Kyle . . .

Do you recall the problems a few years back of bugs and data errors at a level that sometimes made the forums a bit unpleasant? You "stepped up to the plate" and resolved the problems. Your generated missing documentation, set a controlled development cycle, announced dataset update ... all of which is much appreciated. The result is a much better product.

However, as I was documenting the Guide sections, I noticed places where there is an opportunity for improvement:

  1. Documentation that has not been updated while the software has.  Would it be practical to put a review of the documentation on a set schedule so that we could trust is was never more than a year out of date?
  2. Data of unknown vintage. As an example, the data behind Important Words/Lemma in Passages is dependent upon the commentaries available to Faithlife ... an ever expanding list especially with the acquisition of WordSearch. Would it be possible to put the regeneration of the data on a predictable schedule so we knew when to expect our new goodies to be included?
  3. Consistency for example facet expansion. Software is much easier to use when one knows/can predict the presence of features. For example, the Bible Browser, the Concordance Guide section, and the Important Passages Guide section all implicitly carried the data marked by labels.  The labels feature has recently undergone a major expansion which shows in the Concordance but not in the Browser or Important Passages. It would be comforting to know that the expansion of the Bible Browser and Important Passages Guide was scheduled work so the consistency of features is maintained.  There are other interrelated tools and guides that present a similar need.

These items would all enhance the user experience and improve the quality of Logos/Verbum. The would show a continued interest in quality control, an area in which you have demonstrated interest, and it would be a small step forward in helping a new user learn the application.

MJ. Smith:
Documentation that has not been updated while the software has.

Incomplete and outdated documentation is something that I really hope that Bob and the other decision makers at Faithlife will soon decide to fix systematically.
