B11 Endless sync

Syncing seems to hang in B11 -  icon is still spinning after several hours.  Has this been observed by others?

Could you post logs? Do you have lots of documents to sync? Tom noticed in another thread sync issues someone was having. http://community.logos.com/forums/t/22783.aspx

Here's the resolution (it's not awesome, we're sorry):

  1. Launch the app while holding down the 'command' key. Choose 'work offline'.
  2. Open the NIRV, The New Manners and Customs of the Bible and 1000 Bible Images scroll them to a new position.
  3. Rate (or re-rate) the NIV, the NET Bible and the NRSV.
  4. Open an Exegetical Guide to a new reference.
  5. Re-launch the app and let sync complete. If it's still not working, post your logs again and we'll see if anything was missed.

This happens infrequently enough that there isn't yet a neat and tidy way to resolve this state at the moment, but it happens often enough that we probably should. So we'll work on that.

Jerry, your logs are missing most of the useful logging information. Have you edited or removed the nlog.config file from your Logging directory?

Click the following links: they should open resources in Logos 4. Once those are open, click on the "i" button on the right-side of the panel toolbar to show information about the resource, then change the rating or tags associated with both of the resources. This should solve your endless syncing problem. If it does not, adding some highlighting may do the trick.

Yea Cameron I think I did. What do I need to do? Ill open L4 back up and see what it does and repost the logs.

Jerry, Open "A Bend In The Road" and scroll the resource a bit. That should be enough to get it sorted.

Jerry,

If you're sync is constantly running, we'll need more than a 30 second log sample.

2010-09-11 07:39:51.7146 3 Info SyncItemSourceBase`2 Resetting 1 pending 'Preferences' items. 
2010-09-11 07:40:14.2151 3 Info SyncManager (Timed) Uploading 2 items.
...
2010-09-11 07:40:27.4444 1 Error SyncManager Failure gracefully terminating SyncManager.

Can you start Logos 4 and let the sync run for a few minutes so that it can log where the problem is?

Jerry, there's actually several things in the logs.

Could you do us a favor and upload your LibraryCatalogSync.db and your PreferencesManager.db so that we can see the state of the sync databases before we fix the issue? This will help us diagnose how the app got into this state.
