fellow Logos users,

When doing a passage search, some of the things that are intersting is it gives you a link to Sermon Central.com with some of the sermons. If you click on it, you can view many other sermons.

Also, they show some of the stuff from the powerpointsermons. com.

Personally, what I would like to see is a link to something like sermonindex, which I do not use too much because I am very happy with a different free audio/video/pdf/word sermon website.

http://www.sermonaudio.com/main.asp   I love this site. It is mainly from a conservative point of view, a lot of Baptist and reformed preachers on this site. It is free to us. You can do a search on that site on sermons based on a text.

This is one site I would love to see get linked into our program. Certainly SermonIndex might be a great site, I just prefer this one.

Can we even do this with some "fancy programming on our own?" to set up a link with a website or is this for Logos programmers only? Maybe this could be something for the next update where we can put our own links of various sermon sites and other sites which will allow us to link to  our favorite sites.

I am sure if Logos advertised on this site or a like one, they will make a bit more money which ultimately I see as a good thing, because this means more products will come out for us to use(and pay for).

Lemme know what you think.

God bless

http://www.sermonaudio.com/main.asp   is also my favorite sermon site. It would be real nice to be able to run that from within LOGOS.

Right now I have 1 window with 5 tabs, another window with three tabs, Media center running a John MacArthur sermon DVD, and only 1 notepad open. My Desktop is sparse because I am winding down for the night. I guess I won't be content until LOGOS has replaced my operating system or at least my desktop.Computer

......and I haven't preached in years. I can't imagine how you ministers manage it all. God Bless You!

I do not know if anyone ever replied to their own post. I contacted the preaching site and actually got a reply back. I did not expect it. So I ask, Logos, get with the program...pleaaaasee. Get unbusy and make this happen. Maybe if I start praying for this, it will happen!

Hello,

Thank you for writing and for posting your suggestion in the Logos forums.

Actually, we have already been talking with Logos for some time about getting this done. We are already integrated with another Bible software program (******) quite well. And we can definitely integrate with Logos from our end. They are open to the idea but said that they are currently very busy. So, we'll wait until they have the oppportunity to integrate. We would definitely promote their software on SermonAudio if they are able to integrate well with our site.

We appreciate your feedback and ideas!

Sincerely,
Steven Lee

David Emme:
What would you like to see Logos link to?

I would like to see Logos link to these sites - but I would like to take this one step further.  I would like Logos to link to any site, program, or file, that can have a link created to it.

For example, I have often said in the news groups and, more recently, here, that I use David Michael's program TheJournal in lieu of a better note taking program within Logos.  I would like to be able to link to TheJournal from within the Logos program.  Similarly, I would like to be able to link to any web page or document on my computer.

I hope this comment does not go too far beyond your intended discussion.

Blessings,

Floyd

Is this working better? There is a decent SBC online journal which is not part of anything from Logos and would love to lin this according to scriptures studied.

Also, if they could link word search, subject search to something like Google. Same with bible passage study guide. Of course, I do not forsee any of this going on, I just hope they can link to those willing to open up their databases to Logos.

God bless

Dave

I'd like to be able to link to video clips posted at www.ScreenCast.com ... this site is FREE, and is dedicated to training items though other things can be there as well.  It is NOT another "YouTube" ... you CONTROL the environment.  Free for 2G storage and 20G bandwidth per month.  You can use Jing (FREE) or Camtasia(POWERFUL) or SnagIt (all from Techsmith) or many other products to produce the videos.  If you need more storage or bandwidth you can pay a small amount ... most people won't.

This provides an excellent means of answering "how to" questions, and of documenting problems.

I'd love to see integration with bluefishtv.com This is one of the best sites for small group/youth group videos and video sermon illustrations (inexpensive and very good quality). So far I haven't convinced bluefishtv to create a a searchable database of scripture passages (ithough it is arranged topically).

Lemme know what you think.

I think lots of things - like I need my morning coffee.  But seriously, sites I use extensively include:

Text This Week http://www.textweek.com/

The Center for Liturgy at Saint Louis University  http://liturgy.slu.edu/

Anglican Diiocese of Montreal http://montreal.anglican.org/comments/

There are a number of sermon sites I use which can normally be found via Text This Week.

Still do not know how to do this quote thing to pull a phrase for a quote, but  using it so at least people know who I am replying to.

So a couple things, perhaps there is more than what I want to link to and hopefully Logos people are looking at this and maybe in a future upgrade, do some dand fancy programming to allow us to link to whatever we would like to link to.Second, as I am going through some posts, I am finding things I never knew existed such as Text This Week which looks like a great resource site.

Perhaps even if we cannot get Logos to change things as soon as we would like them to, perhaps at least share resources with each other that is a blessing in our studies and spiritual formation. So, maybe we could do this here or do it in another thread.

Highlight the phrases you want to pull then hit the "quote" at the bottom.  You did everything right except the magic of a highlight too well hidden. I'm glad you like Text This Week - it has a wonderful variety in its links.

I will echo the request for Logos to integrate some of the content from the Text This Week. Most of the great art linked to in their Art Concordance is public domain. But the links point to places all over the Internet, and sometimes these links break when the sources disappear. It would be great if Logos could incorporate those images into their core library so they'd be available permanently. The cartoonish images which come with Bible Dictionaries are lame in comparison to great paintings and are little help in visualizing the scenes. But the ability to call up great art depicting the Sacrifice of Isaac, for example, would be awesome!
