It's looking good...
Oh boy, I'm so excited! I tried all the things I could think of to access the secret new website under development, but nothing worked:
I guess I'm just going to have to sit on my hands until there's some announcement from them. Then again Thomas Black will probably tell me he's already got access to the secret new site. [^o)] [:)]
Maybe Logos will announce the winners (or at least begin to) of the Mac giveaway contest with this new website rollout. Or if the website is still a couple weeks off I guess we could announce the winners as soon as possible!! [:P]
The new website is amazing... we have been working on it for many, many, many months. It is so good that it hurts to look at the old site anymore.
[:P]
Can you say faceted browsing? Customized content? Geographically aware? Operating system relevant? Personalized messaging/offers? More search and browse options than you can imagine?

Dan, don't torment us. Do you have an estimate as to when this is going to be rolled out? Will there be a beta first or are you doing all the testing in-house?
I have no idea what "faceted browsing" is, though I can say it. [:)]
Boy...Logos never just sits back and relaxes do they?
... and now we know why they never get our Pre-Pubs out the door. [:)]

They must have finished the bulk of the work on the new website. That must be why there's been this sudden flood of pre-pubs being released in October. [:)]

My point exactly.
- have a God blessed day.

Even if I tell you, you still don't know if I do or don't. [;)]
I will say the new site looks way cool.
Faceted Browsing = browsing based upon variable criteria. It's a built in component of Drupal sites which are based upon a continually expanding taxonomy and sub-taxonomies. IOW by filtering against available taxonomic data you'll be able to find precisely what you need.
Anybody else get the feeling that the site will go live today at 5:00 pm Pacific time...
Sorry Rosie, you know how we are with ship dates... if we told you, we'd have to... (meet a deadline) [:P]
Never!
Cute...[:D] for those that don't know you are joking... the people working on the website and the people working on the books may never have even met each other. They are in different buildings!
My question is, did you say, "Better Forum software!"?
Nice... [:)] Sorry, no new forum software. It is really strange though. We were thinking about totally changing it up, so we ran that survey last week right here on the forums, and we were just as surprised as you to see 100% of the 54,000+ people who took the survey all said that this was the best forum software they had ever seen! [A]
Not me! [:P]
Seriously, it is going to be a while. We have literally thousands of pages of content. The new format is a fixed-width site that does not play nice with the existing fluid style sheet. We have almost everyone in the marketing department working on making sure when someone goes "to page 6,125..." it looks pretty.
I'm curious Dan, will it play nice with mobile browsers?

It appears your survey was...flawed... the forum home reports "33,663 users "
May I see the graphs please. [;)]
OR we could just go back to the newsgroups [:#]

We aren't entirely that anti-social. Occasionally we do run into these book producing people when we are in the main building obtaining developer fuel
Just think how much we would have done on the new site if we hadn't spent the hours scripting 54,000 gmail accounts to answer your survey last week.... [6]
How friendly do you want it? Here's what it looks like on my iPhone:

Thanks for the pic Dan.
I think, and this is a totally dispassionate and detached suggestion (clears throat), that you should let some beta testers mess around with the environment and see if 1) we can use it productively; 2) we can break it by doing the unexpected.
I promise to be discreet and only talk about it to people who promise to not tell anyone else. [;)]
Thanks for the pic, Dan. Even that (which clearly showed test.logos.com/product... in the URL bar) didn't allow me to sneak into it. Must be password protected. Grrr... [:)]

I like that idea! But Richard, seriously, using "beta testers mess around" and "use it productively" in the same sentence? Isn't that a contradiction? Playing around with even contemplating buying more resources for Logos is not being productive. It's a major distraction for me.
Dan, a suggestion: When you are ready to bring the new website online, please keep an archive of the old one accessible for a while so that we who will by nature be wanting to give it a good workout can check to see if there are things from the old one (e.g., articles from the support pages, etc.) that you forgot to include in the new one. Kind of like keeping L3 around for a whlie until L4 is fully up to snuff...
I just took a poll of all of my friends and he thinks you should let me test the website out.
Thanks for the pic, Dan. Even that (which clearly showed test.logos.com/product... in the URL bar) didn't allow me to sneak into it. Must be password protected. Grrr...
Definitely a good idea, something like Oldsite.logos.com would do the trick.
I said nothing of the sort. [;)]
. . . like Connie Chung . . .

Or my 673 best friends. (On Facebook.)
And (unless you were at Camp Logos in Bellingham this summer) you haven't even heard about the completely new product* we're working on... Where do we get the time? :-)
* Will work with Logos 4... and Biblia.com... will run on Windows... and Mac... and iPhone... and iPad... helps you teach... and a perceptive Logos fan could make a good guess based on clues we've leaked... or by bribing a Camp Logos attendee... more info in following weeks...
I'm eagerly awaiting any info....!
I look to my more perceptive MVP's to unravel this one...
Rosie? You've got the "inside track..."

I enjoy a good guessing game... [H]
Logos's "Ten Commandments: Tablet Edition"? [;)]

I'm guessing it's the new Lesson Builder
A PowerPoint like extension to Logos.
Heh. It's like throwing out one end of a ball of yarn into a group of energetic kittens.
bat bat
LOL
As my Avatar would assume, I reject your analogy.
I would prefer, throw a dog a bone and he'll imagine a skeleton.
I remember hearing them say something about a new product, but I'm afraid I've forgotten the specifics. I'm guessing we'll start seeing Dan leak something on Twitter sooner or later.
*hints upcoming product*
A combination of a cloud-based network linking the pastor's sermon notes (powerpoint like), music to be sung (powerpoint like), announcements on screen, etc (team members effort0 with the ability to send announcements to people's mobile devices such as the iphone, messages such as "we need help in the nursery, would you care to volunteer?" And when the pastor is preaching and he says "turn to Hebrews 10," those connected with the Logos App (or the like) will automatically turn to Hebrews 10 without the layman changing the text on his own.
I'm guessing a web-based, collaborative, fully L4 accessible (at least through Biblia.com), work/study environment.
And when the pastor is preaching and he says "turn to Hebrews 10," those connected with the Logos App (or the like) will automatically turn to Hebrews 10 without the layman changing the text on his own.
Boy, do I like this. I will no longer have to teach my octogenarians how to read the Bible. Bad news is that I will need teach them how to use a computer.[:)]
Revamped Handouts ?
Keep Smiling [:)]

Revamped Handouts are coming as a feature overhaul within Logos, not a separate product. Here is where Bob mentions that: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/19163/144771.aspx#144771
No, if I recall I think it's either some sort of Lesson Builder replacement product, or integrated software for use in church (e.g., with PowerPoint-like projections of sermon outlines, song sheets, Scripture readings, stuff like that). Sorry to be so vague, but my memory really is not serving me as well these days. Anyway, if I could recall any more than that I probably wouldn't say it.
Lesson Builder replacement would be nice. I also would not mind if the Android app came out soon. Please, oh, please let it be Logos for Android [:D]
A poll of your enemies would reveal more support[:P]

True, but I graduated from Bible College with no math classes. I can't count that high.

It has been revealed:
It has been revealed: Testers Needed For A NEW Logos Product
I find myself somewhat bemused:
Spell check for notes is not available in Logos 4 or LDLS 3. Logos has not wanted to build all the functions of a word processor, of which there are many good ones, into the Notes function.
Sorry Paul, I'm slow... I don't get the point of your post... can you elaborate?
Thanks
Peter
Sorry Paul, I'm slow... I don't get the point of your post... can you elaborate? Thanks Peter
It seems that while not desiring to build standard word processor features into the Notes feature, development time is being devoted to building a better PowerPoint.
Just slightly confusing to me...
Excellent point. Thanks for the clarification, Paul.
