Can anyone suggest to me how I can find all uses of pisteuo in the imperative?

Steven,

You can use Morphological Search

in the image above, i used the Lemma and the Verb with Imperative
for the Lemma i used the transliteration   g:piste and in the drop down list picked pisteuo
for the morph i entered @V and in the drop down list picked the Imperative
You also may want to pay attention to the Search fields (New Testament, ESV, Logos Greek Morphology). The wiki page below goes into more detail on the morphology databases (relative to which resource you use. e.g. ESV).

see the wiki page Morphological Search for how to use morphology using the @

Thanks, Steve. I appreciate your help. I got the same results as you. Again, thank you for taking the time to help me better learn how to use the language-search tools. Sincerely, Steve

Steve, I tried to do a morphological search for all uses of pistueo in the future tense, and came up with and assortment of tenses. What's the deal?  Thanks, Steve

Steve and Steven!  *smile*

        Peace to both of you!

Might this possibly be more in tune with what you were looking?

The syntax should be lemma:πιστεύω@vf

Also, in the example you provided, it does not restrict itself to the imperative.  Any answers?

Mark, I tried that, but came up with an assortment of tenses.  Am I doing something wrong?

Blessings, Mark.  When I tried yours, I didn't get the "imperative"

Sorry, I was answering the message "Steve, I tried to do a morphological search for all uses of pistueo in the future tense, and came up with and assortment of tenses."

Milford's syntax is for imperative, mine for future.

Mark, I still have discrepancies with both searches. I have no idea what I am doing wrong!  I always appreciate your videos and help for those of us who are still learning L4. Thanks.

Can you send us a screenshot? We should be able to easily tell what's wrong from there.

  1. To create the screenshot
    1. Find the “PrintScreen” key on your keyboard and press it (the key may be labelled PrtSc/PrntScr). This will put a copy of your screen in the clipboard buffer.
    2. Then open Microsoft Paint, or some other graphics editor.
    3. In the menu click EDIT>PASTE to paste the contents of the clipboard to your new graphic.
    4. Choose FILE>>SAVE AS
    5. Save the file with a meaningful name as a JPG, GIF or PNG file (not BMP/Bitmap as they are too large).
    6. Remember where you save the file.
  2. To add the screenshot to the forum
    1. Hit reply to respond to this message
    2. Locate the paperclip icon and click it
    3. This will bring up the attachment dialog
    4. Click Browse to locate your image, adust the Max width and height if you want to change scaling (not normally necessary).
    5. click INSERT.

Mark, I will continue to work on this. I can't seem to do as you suggested. I WAS able to save it on a Microsoft Word document. Tried copying it to the quick reply and alas, nothing. {sigh}

Try clicking on this link: lemma:πιστεύω@vf

It should execute the search, and give you six results. If you place this search window next to yours, you might be able to compare this syntax with what you're trying, to find out what's going wrong.

It worked, Mark. The mistake I was making was to add "AND" before the morphological code. Thank you so much. You are probably the most popular commentator on the L4 forum!  Keep up the great work. Those of us who are not very savvy with L4 appreciate all your help. Blessings to you, Steve

Hey I just realized this after all this time...you can't save a Morph search!  I can't believe I didn't need that in the past. Is there a way to save them? Why not I wonder (although I guess I have never wondered until now...?)

Layouts can include Morph searches.

You can add them to favorites. That's a 'save' to all intents and purposes.
