I posted this a number of months ago, but haven't seen any progress yet.

Now that we have so many excellent Bible resources with the interlinears built in,  it would be wonderful to be able to attach a Note to a Lemma within a Verse, and have that Note automatically appear at the same Lemma and Verse in other Bible resources that have the interlinears built in.  I frequently make notes in my English Bibles about the Hebrew or Greek root, and want that note to appear in all my Bible versions.  Currently I have to attach these notes to the entire verse, so the notes can long and unwieldy at times.  It would VERY NICE to be able to attach the note directly to the Lemma and have it automatically appear in the other Bible versions at that same location.

How would attaching the note to the lemma make them any shorter?  Do you mean the file becomes longer?  If so, couldn't you just create a new file named lemmas?  If the issue is having a note on a single word show up in all Bible versions, then what if that word doesn't appear in another textual tradition?  Are you wanting a choice as to whether a note on a single word selection shows up in all Bible versions or not?  Do you want the colored note indicator to only show when the inline interlinear is on?

The issue here is having the ability to link a note directly to the underlying lemma, which is common to all the versions.  Since the interlinears are now built in, the underlying Greek or Hebrew is already linked to a particular English word, regardless of the translation/version (ESV, NIV, KJV, etc).   Often I will do a word study on the Greek or Hebrew lemma, and want to make a note on the results of that study.  I would like to see that note next the associated English word in any version of the Bible.  I realize I could just enter that info in a note attached to the verse, but there are often half a dozen or more key words in a verse, so it would be convenient to associate the note with the particular word, rather than the entire verse.

YesYesYesYesYes

I don't want it restricted to just lemmas, though; I also want to be able to do the same with expressions, like 'the Spirit of God' or 'the Son of Man'. And I don't want it to only show up in that one verse; I want to be able to do a search or a filter or a passage list or something and have it attached to every relevant occurence of that word or expression.

Though unfortunately my Swedish Bibles don't have interlinears, so I guess I'd still have to keep an OL or English Bible open to see the note icon. Sad

I am very new to Logos so I may be missing something. However, I would like (and this overlaps/repeats things already said)

  • attach to a word in a version, and have a visual indication in all Bibles of that "note"
  • attach to a entry in BDAG or similar, and when that entry comes up in the information pane, include the visual indication of that note (I don't have to go to the resource in order to see the indication a note is present)
  • as suggested I would like a way to attach "notes" to phrases, concepts, etc.

It also seems that notes are a clunky mechanism for this. I just want to retain a chunk of information and have a link to that from multiple places (perhaps in BDAG, Strong's, etc., but also in specific Bible references). Maybe I'm misusing notes, but I end up with an entry in the note for each link.
