There have been more than a few posts over the months since we shipped our first non-beta/alpha release asking about how to get off the beta channel. Well, now is your chance. If you've been on the beta channel and you don't want to be any more, run the following command in the command box:

set update channel to default

then run this one:

update now

Doing that should ensure that you get Logos 4 Mac 4.0b RC-1. Once you're running that release, it'll only grab updates from the stable channel going forward.

Cameron, I am not sure why people want to change or if I should.  Currently I am running Logos Bible Software 4.0b (4.10.4.7689) (Update Channel: beta).  Should I change from beta?

In another post David explained why you might want to get off the Beta line if you require Logos for serious work.

1. Now there is a stable channel the pressure will be off quick fixing of bugs even if they leave your program unworkable.

2. The beta channel may contain bugs which corrupt or destroy your personal material (your resources will always be recoverable eventually).

3. If there is a serious bug in the beta channel and a quick fix is not going to be produced your personal resources may have been reformatted in such a way that a quick reinstall of the stable release is not possible.

These are a paraphrase from memory about David's post. And they were the reasons that having been a keen Beta tester I now wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

Cameron, I did as you said but I still show the following version:Logos Bible Software 4.0b (4.10.4.7689)

Have I done something wrong?

Thanks

Nope. 4.0b will be released to the stable channel in the near future and, when it is, everyone on the stable channel running 4.0a SR-5 will, in a sense, catch up to you. Going forward, you'll only pick up your updates from the stable channel.

Thanks for the clarification and please express my gratitudes to everyone involved with this great product.  The resources which are at my finger tips really makes the study of God's word so much more enjoyable, understandable and easy.

Observation: Mac Stable Channel has newer release than Mac Beta Channel.

If want to switch from Beta to Stable, now seems a good time Yes
