The Nook Color is bridging between an Ipad and a Kindle, is there any possibility that Logos will write an app for the B&N android apps?  I know that the Nook has already been rooted and that Logos for the android is on the way, I'm just curious how difficult it would be to write an app for Bible Study based on the logos for the Android work that has already been done?  Playing around with the web browser on the Nook Color at B & N pulls up www.biblia.com very quickly.  Just curious if we can look forward to a Nook Color app?

Reviving this old post since it didn't get much play first time around. I've been thinking about getting a Nook and rooting it to have an experience of an inexpensive Android Tablet. Any thoughts on using it in general and then using it with Biblia.com?

Rooted allows use of both Kindle and Nook e-books, so I've gone that route on my Nook Color since I have quite a few of both.

Biblia.com works fine either way (rooted/unrooted).   I don't really like using biblia.com on the Nook Color though...the screen is in a widescreen ratio (1024x600), so it's fairly narrow in portrait mode and hard to get the fonts the right size in the web browser.  This is in portrait mode; landscape mode makes the fonts bigger without zooming in and out but also is not as comfortable to hold.  Plus there's no paging, only scrolling, on biblia.com, which makes it hard to keep your place in the book.  So I haven't used it much.  If there were a Logos Android app (hopefully 'when') I'd jump on that ASAP.

Biblia.com would be great, but when Logos release the Android app hopefully the Nook's specs and version will be supported. That would make it the best ebook reader in my view!

Hi,

I have owned my Nook for about a year and am very pleased with it. I have read at least 25 books. I find that it is very easy to control and portable, easy to carry around and use.

I have a NookColor that is rooted. For a better experience using Biblia.com, try the xScope browser from the Market. It isn't free, but it allows pinch to zoom on Biblia.com. No other browser I have tried allows this.

Also flash an overclocked kernel and set a higher LCD density. Check out xda-developers.com's NookColor forum for details.

Just to report back. I went ahead and bought a NC, primarily because my wife wants a tablet. And it is a great little Android tablet. Obviously it won't be as good as a full-on Android device like the Galaxy Tab. But I really like this thing. The size is perfect for carrying around. When Logos comes out it will be even better. Also looking forward to some other bible apps that are either releasing or updating.

Biblia.com is ok. I'm not a big fan of the site on any device as it is a limited experience even compared to the iPad app. But if you like it, you will really like the NC rooted and running Biblia.

Can you download your books and read offline like you can with an Ipod touch?

If you are asking about Biblia.com, I don't think so. As for the Android App it is not yet out.

B&N is now actively seeking apps for it's market. The question is will Logos submit an android app or not? AND will B&N allow another book reader app on their market. B&N talks a good game as far as supporting the idea of competition, thats why the nook allows side loading of books amd magazines purchased from other sources & they allow Google books to be directly downloaded to nook.

As for rooting...

I work with nooks professionally (for B&N) and see a lot of messed up nookcolors due to haphazard attempts to root them.I have rooted several different ways and all are pretty much easy to do IF you are a bit tech savy. If you can registering it, buy and read a couple of books, and don't need to ask your kids how to do something on it, then read all the instructions (for the particular rooting process you wish to do) and IF you understand them them give it a try.

Also check out "customizing your nook color" on facebook. They have much clearer instructions for rooting posted there, and they are usually good at answering questions.

Here may be an alternative option to all you Nook root folks, that might also solve the andriod issue once Logos releases Logos for Android:
