I just received a copy of Michael Horton's new book: The Christian Faith - Systematic Theology  for Pilgrims.  I have only skimmed through it, but even as a layman, it is clear that this is an excellent book that should be in everyone's library, even for those who may not agree with Reformed theology.  I would very much like to see it in the Logos Library soon.

So, here is one vote for it to get on Pre-Pub.

Thanks,

Paul Immanuel

Yes!!! Even as a layperson, I agree. I think that he is better at articulating the Christian Faith better than anyone else that I know!

I read a couple chapters from Horton over the past few days and I think he's a bit too heady for me.  I've found Grudem to be a lot more accessible as a layman.  That being said, I still intend to order Horton when it's available, but it will be a secondary resource for me.

Horton has done an exceptional job of declaring our Christian Faith in his latest book.  Yes, it needs to be in Logos. I see that you can get it even in Olive Bible Tree program...so Logos should have it as well... and his book, "Putting Amazing Back into Grace" is dynamite too.

I think his very Biblical and historical approach might be dryer than works like Grudem's, but it is a classic and should be available in Logos. Besides, in my opinion, Grudem's work is horribly confusing in many places... to me, it is amazing that it caught on.

Any news on this Logos? Based on the books popularity it seems like a clear choice.

It's already in prepub, but it's part of a Zondervan collection: http://www.logos.com/product/17193/zondervan-theology-collection

Today's blog post happens to talk about it:

Todd,

Are items on sale for Pastor Appreciation just for pastors, or can anyone one take advantage of the sale prices?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Yeah...what LaRosa said!

You should be sure and check out the other deals too---at least pick up the free book about Richard Baxter.

This is the 3rd book they have put on the Pastor Appreciation sale form the Zondervan Theology Collection. I wish that would just put the whole collection on sale for say $99. If I end up getting the Horton book and the other two, I'll have to rememeber that down the road in case the whole collection comes up for sale.

Todd, I have been waiting for an opportune time to buy Horton's theology, but recently I've been rushing through Logos webpages Evelyn Wood style, and I would have missed this sale without your post. Thanks.  Ditto for pointing out Baxter's vol 14, although, I picked up Baxter some time ago after listening to Packer's lectures on the Puritans, free on iTunes. Which incidentally, are excellent on the context and the theology of the Puritan writings.  Regards, Scott

P.S. Congratulations and thanks in advance for your upcoming milestone of 4k of helpful posts.
