Bug: 4.2a Beta 5: Type Scripture reference quickly in Notes, and Logos can't keep up, doesn't make l

In a Note, if you type a Scripture reference followed very quickly by a space, Logos doesn't keep up and doesn't turn the Scripture reference into a link. But if you type the same reference, and pause slightly for the display to catch up before pressing space, Logos makes the link. I should be able to type as fast as I want and have Logos keep up with me. The fact that the display doesn't catch up is annoying (and I hope that will be fixed soon), but at least I can live with it. The fact that the references don't turn into links when I type fast is a bug.

Here's a demo:

You must have a long delay in typing, as the first time you type "Song 1" the cursor doesn't move past the "S" until the full verse appears. It makes it look as though the "S" was typed and the "ong 1" was pasted. I'm a fast typist and no matter how fast I type, I'm not seeing the problem, although, I don't have the same delay, either, which may be the main issue. There have been posts regarding sluggishness in notes in the past which were reported to development, and a some improvements were made, but perhaps this needs to be looked at again.

    Hi Melissa

I see very similar behaviour to that reported by Rosie

They've probably improved the speed of typing in Notes, but no matter how fast they make it, there will be some slower machines where it won't be all that fast. Therefore speeding up notes even more might never solve this problem. The issue might be something other than the speed of notes. Just because you can't reproduce it on your faster machine doesn't mean the underlying vulnerability isn't still in the code somewhere. I know that Logos targets faster machines primarily, but the behavior of the program shouldn't be dependent on it being fast. I do have the recommended minimum config on my laptop (4GB RAM, etc.), so while my machine is on the slow end for benchmarks, it has not dropped out of the range of machines that Logos should be supporting, and thus testing/debugging with to be sure that it operates as expected on such machines.

Anyway, here are log files for two trials with opening to a blank layout, creating a new note file, adding a note, and typing Song 1. In the first trial, I typed quickly and the link did not appear. Then I restarted Logos to the exact same scenario, this time typing more slowly, and Logos created the link. I'm not sure there's enough info in the log files to determine why it works in one situation and not the other, but perhaps if there's a slow enough machine in-house to be able to see the behavior, someone will be able to figure out why it's happening.

Something is going on with the notes systems Rosie. I can see a few users, myself included, reporting note problems. Something is apparently wrong with the notes.
