I just received an update of 203.8kb....the version number didn't change and no resource in my library says "today"....does anyone have an idea of what was updated?
Home Page refresh:
Keep Smiling [:)]
One of the things that I like about the latest build is that after you receive a resources update you can press F5 to refresh the home page and it will let you know what was updated.
I didn't know that. Perhaps that's explained in the new help?
Hi Chris, I'm really not sure about whether or not the Help file was updated to reflect this, honestly when I have a question I always go to the wiki first and if I can't find my answer there I simply come here... way better than the Help file in my opinion. [:)]
The release notes for version 4.2a are here: http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4.2a

Where does it show you? When I press f5, the homepage is refreshed, but it doesn't show the updates (in the customize box I ticked the 'updated resources').
Also, this 203.8kb update is a daily event for me. Is that normal?
Patrick
Patrick,
If you've checked "Updated Resources" in the "Customize" box, updated resources should definitely show up. Seems to me that something has gone wrong with indexing on your system, that could explain why the update shows up all the time. Try turn on logging and post the log files here on the forums, someone can have a look at them.
Is that normal?
Definitely not. I would do as Theolobias suggested and allow others to examine your log files. It may be best to start a new thread to catch everyone's attention.
post the log files here on the forums
Those files are rather long. Which of them you are talking about? The Logos4Indexer.log, Logos4.log or the Logos4Crash.txt
Below the Logos4Indexer.log and under that one the Logos4Cash.txt

You can take a look on the Wiki-Page: Diagnostic Logging and Uploading Logs
You can zip the log files and attach them to your posts. But what you've already posted should be enough to let the experts here on the forums figure out what's wrong with your installation.

Hi Patrick,
The above lines in your Logos4Indexer.log records a problem with downloading the updated Logos4Help file. If you've never encountered problems downloading updated resources in the past, has your Internet connection settings changed recently? Are you connecting via a Proxy server?
Have you had problems downloading Windows Updates as well?
Thanks,Melissa
Hi Melissa,
Not sure if I can answer your questions that easy. I don't know if I am connected via a proxy server (since I don't know what that means). I am just connecting to the internet as usual. And I am not aware that I changed any setting. When I click on the proxy settings I see three little boxes with everything in gray:
1. http://proxy8080
2. User name
3. Password
Should this be different?
I never had any problems with downloading updates. Although, I might have, since I still can't see the updated resources box on the homepage, even if I have ticked it in the customize dialog. If I understand this 203.8 update well then it means that even if I update it without problems it won't show it on the homepage (since I can't see it now). Or does that update box only showing up when an update just has been downloaded? In other words, it normally doesn't show up if there haven't been an update (very) recently?
In the past I have had problems with Windows updates, but after a new installation of Windows Vista, that problem disappeared (I couldn't access the Microsoft update server - or whatever you call it).

You most likely don't connect via a proxy server then, but to confirm that, open Control Panel, go to Internet Options, and click on the Connections tab. Click on the 'LAN settings' button. If a proxy server is being used, the checkbox under 'Proxy server' will be selected, the Address and Port fields won't be grayed-out, and there will be entries in those fields.
Another thing to try: Close Logos 4, and then navigate to 'C:\Users\Patrick\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\3cury5u0.rnm\UpdateManager\Resources' and delete the folders you find in that folder. Restart Logos 4 and let us know if that makes any difference.
I did find a similar case on this and have included a link to your logs in that case.
Hi Melissa, no proxiserver, as you already thought.
I went to that folder, but it was already empty. When I started Logos again, I saw a new folder appearing in that folder (while logos downloaded the 203.8 update... But after a few seconds, it disappeared again. The homepage is also almost empty (except for the book of the day and a pericope from the Bible, although I ticked almost everything.
Strange.

Is "Use Internet" in Program Settings set to "Yes"? (Edit: I would think it would have to be to get the download, but it is odd that your home page is almost empty--you might try F5 to refresh the home page.)
It is indeed set to 'Yes'. Last night I downloaded 40% of a new update (320Meg). But because of the internet connection I couldn finish that (I am in Africa right now). It told me that resources are available for adding to library. I restarted L4 and this morning I saw the recent changes in the Homepage! So that problem seems to be solved. However. I didn't see anything about the helpfiles being updated.
This morning I had to start over again and it stopped half way. It started again, but I don't know if it downloaded everything, since it took a long time to get 77% downloaded, but really soon after that - too soon to download that last 23% in my opinion - it told me updates were ready to be added to the library. I restarted L4 again and those big new updates were not downloaded again, so that seems it really downloaded everything. After pressing F5, it showed the recent updates for today! Great. [Y] [:)]
But it still downloads a little update with the size of 236 kb. When I looked into the logfiles it says:
2011-03-18 09:16:14.3480 5 Warn DownloadJob BITS error 0x80200011 (context: RemoteFile): The server did not return the file size. The URL might point to dynamic content. The Content-Length header is not available in the server's HTTP reply.

[:(]
So it seems to be more than just the helpfile now (I think that is the reason why it is more than 203.8kb now).
Ensure the Resources and Installers folders (in C:\Users\Patrick\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\3cury5u0.rnm\UpdateManager) are empty.
In a Command Prompt type bitsadmin /reset to empty the job queue (find it in Start | All Programs | Accessories, right click to "Run as Admin").
Restart L4.
Sorry, but it didn't work. Everything in these folders was empty. Still downloading the update everytime when I start L4. The good thing is that it is not a huge update.
Googling BITS error 0x80200011 yields nothing conclusive, so you might try to delete:
If that does not work rename ...\Logos4\Data\3cury5u0.rnm\UpdateManager\Updates.db (eg. to updates.old) & restart L4. This might work at the expense of removing Last Updated information for resources.
If that does not work, restore updates.old as Updates.db and contact Technical Support.
Thanks Dave, for your advice. However, since I didn't have time the past few weeks when I wasn't at home, I didn't do what you wrote. At home again, I started L4 again and for some reason the problem is solved! The Helpfile was downloaded and updated. Great!
Mmmm! Something external must have changed - maybe the update to SR-3?
