Better bid on this one before it is too late.

Johann Peter Lange, well-known 19th-century theologian, shares his scholastic research and vast Biblical knowledge in this four-volume set.  This compendium of Christ’s life chronicles the prophecy and story of his life as detailed in the Old and New Testaments, focusing especially on the four gospels of the New Testament. The Life of the Lord Jesus Christ (4 Vols.), originally published in German, was published in English in 1872 and is one of the most comprehensive resources on the subject to date.

It's interesting how books are being received in different contexts. Virtually no one in the German speaking context has taken notice of Johann Peter Lange (German!) over at least the last half century, while he seems to be well known in America. I guess this is due to the much more conservative setting and basically reformed roots of Christianity there. Or are there e.g. any specific factors in Lange's biography etc. that I don't know of that would explain this popularity?

That's what I thought when I studied abroad and they were reading Aulén, Hammarskjöld and Kierkegaard all over the place -- none of whom I had read at the time -- but not a single one of the Scandinavian theologians we did read. And, like I noticed in some other thread, Logos sells an endless number of old Protestant works -- yet none of the few non-Swedish post-Reformation pre-1900 Protestant books that sit on my shelves are in Logos...

Seriously, you don't read Kierkegaard in Sweden? We read him heavily here in Germany (he's still crucial to both theological and philosophical studies - at least you're expected to read Kiergegaard, even if you don't take courses on him), and even when I studied in Oslo Kierkegaard was pretty important.

Sadly, it's the same in my case, let alone the post-1900 era! Crying
