As soon as the "Bookstore" opens I have completed compiled L4 PBBs to share of:
I could use everyone's advise on this one. Using a firefox plugin called downthemall and Word Macros I am able to convert all of John MacArthur's sermons into a commentary format. I currently have three or four books completed. Primarily as a proof of concept test run. This would be for my own personal, non-distributed purposes. I emailed GTY but have not received a reply. According to your reading of their permissions here would this project fit within the bounds of what they have pre-approved?

Sounds like you're fine to me. You're not even going to distribute copies, so you are well within their boundaries.

Bob Pritchett: For this reason, though, Logos is going to have some content restrictions on the bookstore -- we aren't looking to create an editing tool, for example, that lets people create lower-quality and lower-price versions of public domain content we sell in high-quality editions, and then use our systems, servers, etc. to distribute them.

If a PD item is already available from Logos we can just search the Products page and see if it is already in Logos. But what about the items in Pre-Pub or CP that may not be available for years? What about the items that are 'next' on your list of PD items to make available over the next few years?
[My recommendation would be to allow the PB until the Logos version is available - maybe with a notice that Logos is trying to make it available - and in some cases Logos might want to acquire the docx file as a starting place (many of the PB will not be 'low quality works' except maybe in looks - i.e. all needed links will be there)]
Jacob Hantla: Looking forward to the bookstore. Thank you. I understand the limitation on you guys distributing the PBB's of public domain works you sell. I agree with it. Are you going to limit it only to public domain works that you sell? Or all public domain works of which we are not the original authors?

We're still finalizing the policies. But in general, the bookstore is for your own content. If users start uploading public domain stuff we haven't done yet, it will destroy the market for high quality editions we might do. This ends a major source of revenue for Logos, and limits all the user's to possibly lower-quality editions. If we fight quality by allowing multiple people to submit their own editions of the same PD books, now the store gets cluttered with hard-to-distinguish multiple editions of the same works. You might take notes on a low quality edition and then find a higher quality edition available later, and then want to move your notes from one to another. And to distinguish between good/bad editions people would start building "brands" of editions (even if the brand was just their name), and then we're creating a big free-for-all marketplace that generates no revenue.
Etc.

So Bob, correct me if I am wrong, but if I read your post correctly, you do not intend for PBBs to be publicly shared in the same way that they were under Libronix. This is a disappointment.
Many PBB authors created PBBs of books Logos has not created and never would create a PBB if one was available from Logos. Not one of the books mentioned in my earlier post in this thread is offered by Logos. In fact, several PBBs that I made for Libronix I will not be compiling for Logos 4 because there are now Logos resources of those PBBs or soon will be (Hengstenberg's commentary on the Psalms, William Ramsay's works).
I understand and respect the revenue issue, but I am hoping there is a better way forward.
What if there would be a statement in all of the PBBs that would be offered via the store that the person who produces the given PBB agrees with terms or guidelines that would include taking off PBB from the public if Logos produces the same book or resource? You think it would work? It would not solve the problem of a few different versions of the same publication though.

Bob, what are your thoughts re: 19th century hymnals, ancient liturgical rites, church creeds, religious poetry and art etc. ... i.e. related materials that don't appear to be in Logos' long term plans - although they may well be?

That makes sense and is reasonable. Let me make sure I understand

Hi! When the PB store (and PB sync) will be launched?
I hope the PB store could work as Bohuslav suggested. There's so much PDs Logos will probably never publish, that limiting all the PDs off is not necessary. And if Logos is going to publish a PD that is already in PB store, they could remove the existing PB.
About different versions of the same publication: I suggest there could be some way to send a private message to the person who has made the PB, so if someone wants to help to improve the PB he could ask for the docx and send it back after editing for recompiling.
Another suggestion: If there will be very well made PBs, some of them could be changed to official Logos resources (is that easy or would the book need to be totally re-tagged?). Especialy Bible translations of non-English languages (I think Logos should have the Bible in as many languages as possible, at least one free translation / language and PBs could help a lot for that effort).

Bill -
I am very interested in the two volume work Typology of Scripture for Logos 4. Any suggestions. I have a print copy, but I'd love to have a Logos 4 Library resource in addition.
Larry,
I would be happy to provide the Word files to you, but there is one issue. Last I compiled them, there were some issues with the accent marks for the greek not displaying correctly and order for the hebrew words was reversed in some cases. This is supposed to be corrected in a future release, but I don't know if that has been released (and I haven't had time to re-compile the resources with the current beta).
Bill
Bill - Thanks for the reply -
Since I have zero experience compiling PPB resources, I would not know how to utilize the Word files.
Perhaps you can suggest the procedure. If so, I would be willing to learn.
Larry
Bill,
Having worked with Greek and Hebrew I would love to have those docx files and would go through them as time permits to do corrections.
The problem with the original language words is with the compiler. I believe that I typed the words in correctly when I made the Logos 3 versions. I wouldn't mind having another set of eyes take a look at it, though.
I'll upload the files later when I have a chance to zip them up.

It looks like it will be for my personal use only.
After the time I spent formatting and tagging I truly appreciate the length of time a pre-pub takes.
Would like these titles but your downloads don't work.. Please post each on Forum as directed by LOGOS they will appear on the WIKI List (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/40588.aspx) or send via email morganfj at gmail.. thanks
Download links not working.. please post on forum individually or send copy via email morganfj at gmail Thank MJ Sincerely Fred
Fred, it helps if you say whose post you are responding to. It was MJ's post you clicked Reply to (which we can see by following your Replied link), but she was quoting Blair's post, so he's really the one you should be addressing this to.
I had problems downloading his files at first too by clicking on the links he provided (the Download button on the pages those links took me to did nothing), but then I just went to the main website address (http://divinesoteriology.com), clicked the Books link on the left, and then I was able to download them by clicking on each book title in sequence.
