Hello,

I wanted to use "Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia : WIVU Constituency Trees", but when I click on it, I get the message: "Could not open online resource". Yesterday, it was also the case...

Can someone tell me what it could be? If it is only a temporary problem?

Thanks & Regards,

ilian

(the same question in German)

Ich wollte Biblia benutzen, aber wenn ich darauf klicke, kommt die Meldung: "Could not open online resource".
Gestern war es auch der Fall...
Kann mir jemand sagen, woran es liegen könnte? Geht es nur um ein vorübergehendes Problem?

I have the following Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy S (firmware 2.3.3)

I think I recall that these WIVU trees work only under Libronix 3, not Logos 4 (functionality to come with SESB 4), but I may be wrong. Again, even if they work on PC, it could be a functionality problem (Android is in Beta) or a licence issue. Hopefully others can shed more light on this.

The "Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia : WIVU Constituency Trees" resource shouldn't be available on the Android App at all. We are working on getting license agreements for all of our available books.

Thanks,

Is there anything new about the "Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia : WIVU Constituency Trees" for Android?

Is this still relevant?

Is something already planned for the future?

I don't believe so.

Not to my knowledge.  This is a graph resource intended for large screens and it isn't targeted for mobile devices.

I think for Android tablet or iPad is not a problem (8" or 10")? I nead this resource primarily for Tablets...

I nead most this options: "Lexeme" and "Gloss" (german or english) and may be "Morphology". This is not so big:

Being always the humorous (and curious) type, I dutifully went to the kitchen, got out the ruler to check how big my tree display actually is.

3.2" diagonal.  Surprisingly, my AF phrase markers is also 3.2" (might be because they're both tabs in the same panel).

Logos forever cracks me up.   I use my mini mainly for graphics (although I will say I got the 'Drops' app and am completely mystified at the art-y design; an old CPA-er).

But I can understand a contract issue along with limited users.  That'd make sense.

To my knowledge there are no plans for getting this resource working on mobile devices.

This is probably the issue. To be honest, Kevin and I aren't really the ones to be answering this question. We work with the mobile apps directly and don't have much interaction with the resource production process so we don't tend to keep up with which resources are or aren't available on mobile and why. Of course, we also handle interacting with you guys on the Android and iOS forums, so questions like this come to us. I'm not sure what the best process would be for dealing with these sorts of questions. It's not the best use of my or Kevin's time to track down someone in Content Production and figure out who knows what's going on with this particular resource. I'd rather be fixing bugs in the apps and writing new features, and I'm sure that's what you want me to be doing too.

All that said, I'm going to go find someone who knows what's going on and see if I can get an answer.

Hope I didn't make Kevin too mad at me.

You guys are really responsive. And quite frankly, after hearing about Olive Tree today, I sure hope the best for you and the mobile apps.

We want Logos to win!!

I'm fairly sure that the main issue is that graph resources require a difference resource driver than 'normal' Logos resources, and no resource driver has been written for graph resources on mobile devices. Note that there are no Cascadia Syntax Graphs nor is the Andersen-Forbes Phrase Marker Analysis on the mobile devices.

I think the graphs would be pure frustration on a phone. On a larger tablet, there'd still be a lot of scrolling around - for those graphs that have deeper structure or cover longer sentences, there would be a lot of scrolling around - it would be hard to view the whole graph at once and still be able to read the text. But I think this is an app issue, not a resource or licensing issue.

[EDIT] I see that the original post was asking about 'online' use, rather than mobile. I'd still guess that the issue is the same (it's a different kind of resource that needs special code written for that platform).

Yep, it looks like mobile doesn't support that type of resource. The bug is that it shouldn't be appearing in your mobile library at all. I'm going to follow up with the server team and see if we can get that fixed.

I don't need "the graphs" for iOS or Android!

To me it would be enough if I can use "Lexeme" (or "Morphology") and "Gloss (German)".

Is that possible?

P.S.: I mean this:

If all you want is to be able to look up the lexeme, morphology and gloss, you can do that with the resource BHS SESB, though on the iPhone it provides parsing on the main word, not all the prefixes that might be attached. You can get at this information by holding your finger on a word until a pop up menu appears and then select 'look up...' I believe you have to be able to get to the internet for this feature. If what you want is this one-word-per-line view, then the answer is that even this would require a graph resource driver, or a completely different resource. You might also look at the word by word section of the exegetical guide, but I think the iOS version is restricted by part of speech - it doesn't include all the common particles. But I might be missing a setting somewhere.
