Using Logos 4.3 SR-2 on Snow Leopard (10.6.8) with Office 2011 (version 14.1.0), downloading PB book from forum thread => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/37027/277631.aspx#277631 then building book receives "! Build Failed." message.  Opening docx file in Office 2011, then saving as docx without compatibility mode then compiling receives same "! Build Failed." message.

Logos4.log file has one warning message (repeated for each build book attempt):

08/26/2011 12:48:51 |  WARN | 5 |   AsyncWorkItem | Async work threw exception: LDLS4.Panels.PersonalBookBuilderPanel.PersonalBookBuilderException: Error compiling resource.

  at LDLS4.Panels.PersonalBookBuilderPanel.PersonalBookConverter.CompileResource (Libronix.DigitalLibrary.LicenseManager licenseManager, System.String manifest, LDLS4.Panels.PersonalBookBuilderPanel.ResourceDocumentData metadata, IWorkState workState) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

  at LDLS4.Panels.PersonalBookBuilderPanel.PersonalBookConverter+<CreatePersonalBookWork>c__Iterator31.MoveNext () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

  at Libronix.Utility.Threading.AsyncWorkerTask`1[Libronix.Utility.VoidType].EnumMoveNext () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

  at Libronix.Utility.Threading.AsyncWorkerTask`1[Libronix.Utility.VoidType].EnumMoveNextWithCatch () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

For grins, opened docx in Word 2011, copied all, opened new document, paste, save as (using docx with no compatibility issues), switch to Logos 4.3 SR-2, edit PB to delete, then add file, build book, and received same "! Build Failed." message (with same warning in Logos4.log file).

Odd.  I've compiled the document on 10.5, 10.6, and 10.7 in 4.3 SR-2 and a post-4.3 build and it has successfully compiled each time with no warnings.

If you didn't already try creating a brand new book in the PB tool with the last document you created (the fresh, pasted-into one) you might try that, just in case....

Otherwise, if you could post your Logos4.log file and the log file for that specific PB I'll get it to Development for investigation.

Compiled PB Wiki Rev 97 book using Logos 4.3 SR-2 for Windows, scanned lbspbb resource using Logos 4.3 SR-2 on Mac, which worked.

However, downloaded PB Wiki Rev 97 => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/37027/280590.aspx#280590 , enabled all Debug logging, opened Logos 4.3 SR-2, deleted file (since Mac does not have S:\), and added file (with Mac OS file path), then Build Book failed:

Apologies: not know where to find specific PB log file (not in Logos4/Logging folder).

Noticed License Manager error in Logos4.log file:

09/08/2011 14:03:06 |  WARN | 7 |   AsyncWorkItem | Async work threw exception: LDLS4.Panels.PersonalBookBuilderPanel.PersonalBookBuilderException: Error compiling resource.

Sorry!  They're in the same place on Windows, but it looks like the Personal Book logs are in a separate location on Mac (which I did not realize previously.)  There should be a folder called 'Logos Log Files' in your home directory, and the PBB Logs can be found there.

Apologies: searching Mac for all files with Logos in name (including system files) does not find Logos Log Files.  Also cannot find PBB logs on Windows 7 (do have Logos and Logos_Bible_Software in C:\Users\<user>.<computer>\AppData\Local folder)

Apologies to you: The PBB logs will be available in the 4.5 release.

  • DId the build fail the first time you compiled or subsequent times?
  • Is the docx file being added to a current book or a new one?
  • Does the same thing occur if you add the document without first opening it in Word?

Melissa Snyder:

Yes (both)

Melissa Snyder:
Is the docx file being added to a current book or a new one?

Have tried both, but Rev 72 and Rev 97 wiki page docx files fail to compile on my Mac.  However, can copy compiled Rev 97 lbspbb file from Windows and scan for use on Mac.

Melissa Snyder:
Does the same thing occur if you add the document without first opening it in Word?

Yes - downloaded Rev 97 Wiki Page docx file to Mac; build fails.  Used existing Personal Book metadata, deleted file location, added Mac location, Build => Error.

Melissa Snyder:
The PBB logs will be available in the 4.5 release.

Looking forward to Logos 4.5 Beta cycle Geeked and more log reading Cool

I've submitted your log to development.

I'm guessing this is a different problem than yours, but I also got the same error (and same lines in logos4.log) using 4.3 SR-6 when trying to compile that example file. It turned out that Logos won't compile a personal book without any Bibles installed. As soon as I added a Bible to the library, it worked just fine!
