Rodney raney:

I have an issue with this implementation of the Andrews Bible.  I was under the impression that the LOGOS implementation was going to be somewhat similar to the print edition.  IT IS NOT.  It seems to be just the notes only edition.  In my opinion this is false advertising.  The notes seem to be very good.  but the electronic version is a poor implementation and is not like have a bible with the notes embedded in the text.

But this is how many Study Bibles are shipped.  The Andrews Bible is shipped with and without the NKJV - with a $10 difference in price.  The study notes can then be linked to your version of choice - probably the NKJV, but others may prefer the ESV or the NRSV, etc.  Check out these two products:

http://www.logos.com/buy/9500  << Adds the notes and the NKJV to your order ($39.95)

http://www.logos.com/buy/15006    << Adds the notes only to your order ($29.95)

Blessings,
Floyd

Most (actually all) Bible software companies that I am familiar with do it this way.

Just out of curiosity. Was the "notes only" version offered during the pre-pub?

I just wanted to ask again, I think that my first time asking has gotten buried. Thanks.

Just possible that this was not on pre-pub.  This has occurred at occasionally in the past - you, if I remember correctly, were one of the first purchasers of this product and it was not on pre-pub at that point.

Thank you Floyd.I was just curious if maybe I was not paying attention to the details. I still think that it was a good investment though for those of us who sometimes use study Bibles, instead of the more detailed commentaries, Seventh Day Adventist or not. I have already been using it. Blessings.

You say you are already using it - any comments on what it adds to the mix of Study Bibles already available?  What is making it useful to you?  Thanks for any advice you can give.

Blessings,
Floyd

Sure, please keep in mind though that most of the study Bibles that I use are in a different program (including the ESV). I'm slowly converting to Logos as I can afford it, so some of the things that I see as being very good might be the norm for Logos.

There are three things that stick out for me.

#1: My favorite is the Topical Reading. Basically you have a symbol that indicates a topic and a list that gives other scriptures on that topic. Some would maybe compare this to Thompson's Chain Bible but I like how the symbol makes it stand out and the list of topics is easily found with each verse associated with it. Forgive me if I am sounding clumsy, hopefully the pictures will illustrate what I am trying to say.

#2: There are a lot of maps that are easily accessible from the table of contents and the bigger your window is, the bigger the map is without squinting Smile

#3: Finally, like the maps, the charts are easily found from the TOC like the maps are. This keeps you from having to guess and try to navigate to the book, chapter and verse that you think that it might be at or if (like me) you would have no clue where to find it at!

Here is an example of the table of contents. Each book's layout is the same, similar to other study Bibles with author, date etc.

Hope this helps. If I was not clear about something please let me know and I'll try to explain myself further/better.

Yes the notes were on prepub. I ordered it for 24.95. Still waiting for the download. With the larger text, I can really get the most out of it. I have the print version as my preaching Bible.

Thanks Lynden, when I first ordered the pre-pub I did not see the notes only option but I'll be more careful to check back regularly when I order a pre-pub in the future.

You might contact Customer Service tomorrow to see if you can still get the notes version for the pre-pub price.  You have a few days to return an item - and if you already own the NKJV, they may be willing to refund your overpayment OR give you credit that you can use on another product.

I don't speak for LOGOS, but I know the answer if you don't ask.

I have considered that but I honestly don't remember if the notes only was being shown when I first ordered it and when I ordered it I knew that I would only get the notes. That being said,I agreed to a price knowing what I was getting, I know it sounds silly but that is just how I am. Not saying that everyone has to have the same thoughts as me though. Logos is wonderful at working out problems for people, I know first hand.

How do you 'link' the notes with the bible?

Thanks

James

Open a Bible
Open a Study Bible Notes Only
Link the two [see http://wiki.logos.com/Linking_Resources]
