Galatians is getting ready to close out. A few more $30 bids would get the price down a little.

I think these will all come through with time.  As we begin getting them through and seeing their quality, I think that’ll influence the demand as, hopefully, we see how worthwhile they are.

**UPDATE 6**

1.) ↑ Classic Commentaries and Studies on Corinthians (29 vols.) - 7,722 pgs; Current peak $40 @ ~79% (^33%); Price looks good. Continue @ $40. ($10 increments)

2.) ↑ Classic Commentaries and Studies on Luke (24 vols.) - 9,169 pgs; Current peak $50 @ ~75% (^39%); Should drop to $40 with if newcomers bid at that price.

3.) ↑ Classic Commentaries and Studies on Exodus (21 vols.) - 6,309 pgs; Current peak $40 @ ~60% (^23%); Right price.

4.) ↓ Classic Commentaries and Studies on Romans (32 vols.) - 14,377 pgs; Current peak $40 @ ~60% (^1%); Not moving as quick as the top 3 but will undoubtably make it eventually.

5.) ↓ Classic Commentaries and Studies on Revelation (27 vols.) - 12,448 pgs; Current peak $160! @ ~57% (0%); Keep bidding at $50 and this should come through at that price.

6.) ↓ Classic Commentaries and Studies on Job (18 vols.) - 6,330 pgs; Current peak $25 @ ~57% (0%); One that’s been around for ages and not made much progress.  Would encourage bids $5 higher at $30, else be patient.  The others will probably just go through first.

7.) ↓ Classic Commentaries and Studies on Daniel (21 vols.) - 6,167 pgs; Current peak $50 @ ~56% (^0%); Seems a touch high - new bidders suggested to bid $40. ($10 increments)

Good stuff Paul.  I'm looking forward to getting these through.  In the Genesis set, I really liked Alford's commentary - and Dillmann's so am looking forward to discovering a few more beauties through as the others start coming through :)

Time for another update?  If it could be done in Biblical order, then that would be even better as it would show books of the Bible still not yet covered.

Thanks to the Pauls for this.  Very helpful.

Thanks Andrew - though it's Paul Newsome who's been doing all the work here.  I attempted an update when I thought he might be getting weary but the colours didn't come out, so he did his much better version a few hours afterwards!  :)

I think the way he's doing it probably works better than Bible books in order because it shows people which collections are about to pass the finish line and so generates interest in them which should help push them through.  I reckon there are probably about another 10 collections to come out though if you're wondering: Joshua, Samuel, Kings, Chronicles, Ecclesiastes/Proverbs, minor prophets (I can imagine what a headache they're having wondering how to split them!), Hebrews, epistles of Peter&Jude, John's epistles.

Thanks, Paul C.  You may well be right about the ordering, especially now you've provided the list of remaining books to cover.

Wow, Paul, when I checked yesterday there were a bucn added that I'd missed! Am now in on all this series, though whenever they were valued at more than about $2/book my bids may fail. Thanks for reminding us on these...

Grace & Peace,

Yes, I'll be updating the list every 10 days.  The last one came on Dec 28, so Update 8 will appear  Jan. 7.  I'm going to have to rethink whether I'll be purchasing all the collections as I value them for the Spurgeon recommended volumes.  (Not that he owns the corner on the commentary market nor that these collections all fall within the time period he covered.)

Thanks Paul - yes, I wonder how useful they'll be if I go for all of them (probably costing $500), however I like the reverential tone of a lot of them, and coupled with that file of how Spurgeon valued them, that should help guard against following dodgy commentaries far.  I am personally looking forward to the Job one ... though that'll be a long time coming I think :)

I'm doing my bit. I really want this to come through. I would pay US$160 for Elliott alone (though I've reduced my bid to US$40). Having Durham, Hengstenberg, Ewald, Cumming, Stuart, and Bossuet in this collection is a real bonus even if it's sold at US$160.

Good work Jonathan in reducing your bid.  It may well lead to it getting produced more quickly as more will come in at the lower price.

Great work as always Paul.  I like your digest as well for a quick summary.  Good stuff!
