I already own Luther's comm on Galatians, the Crossway Classics version in Logos. Is there any substantive difference between this one and the one published by Logos/offered today as part of the Twitter daily deal?

All of the Crossway Classic Commentaries are edited for length.  The Logos version of the Galatians commentary isn't edited for length, but the translation is a bit stilted and dated.  The Crossway version is definitely more readable.

Here's a comparison of the editions.  I've highlighted the section that discusses Gal. 3:11.  The Logos version is much longer (and I had to make the font small to get it all on the screen).  Not all sections are edited this severely.  The editors seemed to have removed discussions that may be confusing or difficult.

The best edition, though, is the one that is in the Luther's Works collection (volumes 26 & 27).  It is complete, and the translation is good, but you have to buy the entire collection to get it.

For those who are interested in the Crossway version of Luther's commentary on Galatians, it can be picked up for free for those who own a print edition ESV with an included free software offer.  Check out http://wiki.logos.com/Free_Logos_Books for a link to the free Crossway books package.

I was unaware of that and find it a bit disappointing.

From the series preface:

"So far as is possible, everything is tailored to the needs and enrichment of thoughtful readers—lay Christians, students, and those in the ministry. The originals, some of which were written at a high technical level, have been abridged as needed, simplified stylistically, and unburdened of foreign words. However, the intention of this series is never to change any thoughts of the original authors, but to faithfully convey them in an understandable fashion."
