Hello

Does anyone know when the Logos 4.0 Sermon File Addin feature will be available? I think it was supposed to be completed during 2011.

I would suspect much sooner than later now.  Much of what has been needed on the front end has been built - we're now still waiting on the "backend" website that Logos has hinted about to be built/revealed.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Because our notes are now searchable, you can now have a note file just for your sermons.

Yes this is a plus, but Personal Books are another good option. Many of us prepare manuscripts or notes in MS Word already, so some care in formatting can produce either one PB per sermon or perhaps a PB per series. We can add subjects to PBs so topical searching would work. The only thing we might not be able to easily do is record when and where the sermon was preached. For that Sermon File was helpful.

I have personally used clippings for this reason.  I will highlight one word in a resource so that I could add it to a clipping file, edit the actual clipping, and then edit the tags.  ==> note file with tags.

The only reason why I see that we will get a sermon file addition to L4 is so that Logos can receive a copy of our sermons so that they could publish them.

Hello

Thanks for taking time to reply. I am really looking forward to Sermon File becoming available. I bought it for Logos 3.0 and then, a very short time later, I upgraded to Logos 4.0. At that point I found out that it wasn't yet available for Logos 4.0. That was at least two years ago. Why has it taken so long to reproduce in Logos 4.0 format?

Because when it comes out, it's going to be awesome!

Uh, well, we hope so.

We can only guess, but one good guess is that the Sermon File Add-in (SFA) was planned to be built on the Personal Book module that took longer to develop than anticipated. Now that the PB module is basically in place, the added features of the SFA can be integrated into the SFA module. We know there will be some changes in the SFA, and we know it will include web integration of some kind.

What we don't know is whether we will have the same indexing features (automatically building date, passage, topic and tag indices) that we had in the Libronix SFA. That makes me nervous, as that was the main reason I took the time to put my stuff in the SFA in the first place. We are hoping that Logos is at work building this capability into the SFA. The fact that our sermons import from Libronix with the indices in tact, is a good sign that it's possible.

Meanwhile we wait, with bated breath. Wink

Look here (Websters): logosres:mwdict11;hw=bate

Or here (if you have COED): logosres:coed11;hw=bated;off=-650

Or check out this quote from the bard: http://www.enotes.com/shakespeare-quotes/bated-breath

Current usage is roughly equivalent to "holding my breath." Shakespeare's usage seems to imply a whisper.

(I just had this discussion, elsewhere.)

Has anyone from Logos replied to this question?

Like George, I bought the sermon addin file just a short time before Logos 4 was released. I have also been waiting for years whilst promised delivery dates came and went.  It would be good if a Logos employee could communicate a date to those of us have been more or less patiently waiting.

G'day George,

I think most of my posts have been related to this one issue. There are continued whispers that it is close, but an official heads up would be appreciated. Meanwhile, we live with the technological tension of the now and the not yet. :)
