Logos 4 for MAC - disappointing so far

As a new MAC user (I finally went to the dark side after years of resisting), I am still sort of caught between two worlds.  So I endured the download and indexing of Logos 4 on my Dell laptop as well as my MacBook Pro (look 3 times as long on my new MacBook).  I am very impressed with the new version of Logos on the Windows side, but less so on the MAC side.  I understand that this is a pre-release, but unless I am missing something I do not see it as very functional in this pre-release state.  This morning I am researching in Jeremiah, and I have (so far) opened my resources three times, because the program hangs because I did things such as (for example) clicked on the home button, or tried to open a book in a new tab instead of a floating window.

I hope this MAC version reaches the quality that the Windows version does quickly.  I have eagerly (as has everyone, I am sure) awaited this new product, I do not want to drag around two laptops, nor do I want to set the MAC aside in the interim.

Kudos to Logos, though, on the excellent multi-platform product, even if its not quite there yet on the MAC side.  The iPhone app was a nice bonus!

Frustration appeased for the time being...on to the next attempt.

Richard,

Please don't move this again. But did you know that there is also a Logos 4 for Mac subforum:  http://community.logos.com/forums/75.aspx

It's at the very bottom of the Logos 4 subforum page.

Welcome to the Light Cool. L4 Mac is Pre-Release which means that it is not ready for serious Bible Study, but it is ready for testing. The proper place to address your remarks, frustrations, impressions, recommendations, and tears is in the Mac Beta Forum http://community.logos.com/forums/75.aspx

The underlying code for the Mac Version is identical to the Windows version. Logos must now build the UI so we can use it. You will find plenty of assistance in the Mac Beta Forum. "Come over and help us". In this case the Macedonian is the Mac Community.

Hi Richard, here was the response I posted in your other thread you posted in the incorrect forum before you moved it here to another non Beta forum.  You must not have noticed the replies, so I decided to post here to help you out.

Welcome Richard,

Please check out this note to Mac users http://www.logos.com/mac/disclaimer

This is the most important part to emphasize. Unlike a typical Alpha that is starting from scratch.  The mac Alpha shares the EXACT SAME code base as the L4 for windows.  This means that every feature in L4 is ALREADY in the Alpha right now. What we are waiting for is the developers to add the interface so we can use the features.

Actually, for an Alpha is this quite far along.  You can install L4windows on your mac using VMFusion.  It works just fine.  Also keep in mind that right now the Windows version synchronizes ALL of your notes, settings, and work between both L4windows and l4mac.  I have already confirmed that my windows work has moved over to the mac Alpha.  So no matter how much time you put in using L4windows, it will all come over seamlessly into the mac version.  That is good news for all of us who wait with anticipation.

I hope you will stick around and beta test with us and help make this project move along faster.  The more users, the faster it will develop.

Blessings
