I have 2687 book on my Logos 4 Library and 2693 books on my desktop?  Both use the same account and have fully synced.  Any ideas why the difference and what can I do about it?

"Worship is the submission of all of our nature to God.  It is the quickening of conscience by His holiness, Nourishment of mind by His truth, Purifying of imagination by His beauty, Opening of the heart to His love, And submission of will to his purpose. And all this gathered up in adoration is the greatest of human expressions of which we are capable."  ~ William Temple

Hey Ken, normally a difference like this comes from Logos 4 copying some books from a Libronix installation that isn't present on the second computer. Sometimes this would include the "Sermons of" and "Illustrations of" books that were created by the L3 sermon file addin. There are also a handful of books Logos isn't allowed to distribute via download that might be in the mix. What you can do is make a copy of your Logos resource folder C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\<random>\ResourceManager\Resources  (the appdata folder is hidden) on a flash drive and then use the scan command on the flash drive after you move it to the computer with fewer resources.

Let's say the new computer maps the drive as G and your library is in a folder titled Logos the command would look like

scan G:\Logos

Kevin Becker:
scan G:\Logos

Then you must restart L4.

Kevin,

What resources would those be?  I was told that once they were loaded and unlocked in your Logos account, that all of the resource would download in the future on their own if you had to re-install.

Is this not correct?

thanks!

I don't know.

Bob has said in the past that some of the original contracts limited distribution of books to floppy disc formats. The implication has been that the resources not available on the ftp server were 1) very few and 2) old resources that Logos no longer sells (and thus probably has little to no leverage to update the contract); the licensing system still works for them but you have to load them off of the original physical media or backups.

Something else comes to mind I know the relationship between Logos and E3 has evaporated so some of those books might not be available in the ftp server (this is pure speculation on my part).

Ken, if you're still paying attention to this thread it would be interesting to hear what books were transferred to the laptop. You can find this out by clicking the Last Updated column in your Library. The resources at the top should be the books that you scanned in.

interesting!  Thanks for the list Ken,  I'm only a couple different from my laptop to desktop.  It looks like I'll keep it that way for the time being.

Good information.  I had the same problem because I did not install Logos 3 first.  Since I knew what resource was missing, by following your instructions, finding the missing file (MELTHOFONTS.lbxlls) in the resource folder and copying it was simple.  Thanks

I recently bought a new laptop and reinstalled Logos 4. It is already updated to 4.6 SR-1. I tried the scan, but it didn't seem to work. I still have the same problem with the resources cited above. Although I do not care about them, I would like to access these books that are missing:

- Calvin's commentaries (GS_CALVC.LBX + .LIX)

- Overview of the Ante-Nicene Fathers Library (ECFO.LBX + .LIX)

- WIVU Constituency trees

- A Portuguese package with 11 books in LBXLLS format (it was released last year! I can access it in my older laptop but not in the new!)

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Does it mean our old Logos 2 resources
This change has nothing to do with ending support for books; it's about ending support for a version of Windows.
That's what I'm talking about. Maybe in the future (long future) none of our resources will work?

In the olden days, Logos allowed other companies to create resource files. They have since gone to a system where they alone are the gatekeeper. This should help to ensure compatibility into the future.

Did the command appear under a heading of Tools when you finished typing? Did you restart Logos4 after completing the command?

I restarted Logos4 a few times. I do not know how, but somehow it worked after some time. I guess it was because I copied most of the Logos' folders from my old laptop to the new one OR, after a while, Logos catched up with the sync.

I now have access to all my resources, including WIVU Constituency Trees! Thanks for the help!
