Logos should use Series name to help suggest resource titles in command bar dropdown
I tried to open a volume of the Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges by typing Cambridge Joshua in the command bar. It didn't work, didn't match any resources in my Library. Normally this works fine for commentary series, either because the series name is repeated in the title of the book, or because the series abbreviation is commonly known and is part of the abbreviated title. For example, try NICOT Joshua, and Logos correctly proposes "The Book of Joshua" in that series in the dropdown.
But it would be useful if Logos could also look a the series name field when proposing matches to title shorthand typed in the command bar.

Either they've already fixed this or you must have done something wrong since it works for me.

Work around is using Library to open resource.

Friday evening I used this command: "Open NLT to 2 Corinthians 5:16" and it worked. Since it gives search as an option, does Logos 4 need to be "told" to open, does simply typing the name cause it to think it needs to search?

No. The Cambridge resource title is "The Book of Joshua" so "Open Book Joshua" has two choices in command bar (Cambridge and UBS).

Not sure if this would help, but in Logos 4 we can edit the title of a book by adding a short title:
Example Biblical World in Pictures
Edit title Short Title to Biblical World
Then typed in Command Bar: Open Biblical World
It shows up in menu as first one under Resources
So if this is what you are looking to do for a series, you could edit the Title or better yet create a short title (Cambridge Joshua or Cambridge The Book of Joshua). I think having this option lets each user customize. They can make it like a series if they want to.

If you're determined to use the command bar, this should be a good solution. I prefer to use <alt-L> then enter "cambridge joshua" (case is inconsequential).

Thanks all. I know the workarounds. This is the Suggestions forum. I was submitting it as a suggestion to Logos, not looking for help, but I'm sure some of your suggestions will educate others who might not have known, so great job. Thanks!
Philana, the word "open" in the open command is unnecessary. It is understood if not supplied. If whatever you type is not recognized as a command line command, Logos assumes it to be a book title (or partial book title) and attempts to parse it as such. The only time you'd specifically need to use the word "open" would be if you were trying to open a book that had in its title a word that would otherwise be interpreted as a Logos command. Given the existing list of understood Logos commands, that situation would be pretty unlikely.
Therefore you can usually type a much shorter command than the "official" one when trying to open a book to a specific place, e.g.:
open niv to john 3:16 --> niv jn 3:16
I'm all for eliminating superfluous keystrokes. (So I probably shouldn't even have posted any of this. [:)])

So the good news is that although "Cambridge" is not recognized as abbreviation of "The Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges", "CBSC" is and you save half of the keystrokes by typing "cbsc jos" instead of "Cambridge Joshua" - and it works!
I still think, your suggestion is worthwile, as Cambridge may be more intuitive than CBSC and Logos lists various potential matches anyway.
