L4 M 4.5 Beta 8 Mac OS 10.5.8

Opening Up Exodus was open in a floating 3 column window. Attempted to select a parallel resource from my Expository Collection (any resource). Logos "Unexpectedly Quit". Repeatable.

From the above window, clicked on the + and opened a parallel resource (Barnes Notes). No problem. Then, attempted to select a parallel resource—Crash.

NOTE: Could not cause this crash to occur in L4 W 4.5 Beta 8 with Windows 7

I've had numerous crashes today, four of which occurred after trying to select a parallel resource from the parallel resources button. Parallel resources list okay, but actually clicking on one causes a crash. Logs attached.7802.LogosLogs Stuart Robertson 20111206-171737.gz

Automated unit- and integration-testing?

Repeatable crash when attempting to switch from Calvin's commentary to any other commentary (on Romans 5:19), regardless of whether the window is floated or not. Basically parallel resource switching is completely broken in beta 8 (for me, at least). I will upload logs this evening when my Macbook is connected to the Internet again.

Same here. Repeated L4 M crashes finally froze the entire OS. Restarted everything, closed all windows in L4. Opened NAC commentary to Joshua 2 (only panel, pane, or window open). Indexer icon present in Menu Bar, but never even reached 1%. Activity Monitor showed no apparent activity, so I terminated the Indexer.

Attempted to switch to another parallel commentary. Logos goes bye-bye

Restarted L4 M. Opened Indexer Log File and noted that this log shows activity for the first minute, then nothing, but the Indexer icon remained in the Menu Bar. Quit L4 and left Indexer frozen. Ten minutes after Indexer froze, opened Activity Monitor and noted that L4 had left a ghost when I quit the application.

Terminated this from the Activity Monitor, which had no effect on the Indexer—still frozen. Force Quit. Logs attached.

Is this connected with the parallel resource crash, or is it just another bug inserted in Beta 8? Trying hard to be patient, but two work days have passed since the initial report of this problem with no response from Logos.

Decent coverage of the Logos code-base by (automated) unit- and integration-testing should be able to cover regressions like these. On the off-chance that Logos developers don't have automated unit- and/or integration tests perhaps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unit_testing_frameworks can provide a starting point. Also, I've started profiling Logos with Instruments and am turning up some real surprises (which I will document over the next few days). I'm assuming that the Logos team uses Instruments and (automated) performance tests to determine hotspots and track progress towards performance enhancements goals...? Yes?
