I've been playing around with making new collections and now I have some collections that I don't want. is there a way to delete these these redundant ones?

Garry,

Yes...when you go to Tools>collections>open

then all of the collections will display an X on the right side when you highlight them...or just right-click delete.

Of course. When you go to Open Collection and you hover over the one you want to delete, you will notice a small X sign on the right. You can delete it with that. (The same you can do with the right click on your mouse and delete command there)
