I have really appreciated all of the very nice freebies Logos has given to me this last two months. Even the fiction titles from Vyrso have been nice to get. Even though I usually read a lot of rathe "deep" theoloigical works its nice to have some lighter stuff. They have also given some non-fiction stuff.
Thanks Logos!

Thanks for the info. I would have missed this.

This is great, thanks for the link. I have a question about individual titles and collections. If you purchase an individual title (or several of them over time) from a collection, and then decide to purchase the collection later, does Logos charge full price? In other words, if you're thinking about getting a collection some day, is it wiser to not purchase any individual titles within the collection in the mean time?

Uh, this book is free. As in $0.00. If it impacts your purchase of this set, it won't be negatively.
As far as purchasing individual books and later the entire set, you'd have to talk with someone at Logos sales about specifics, since different publishers will probably have different rules about what discounts can be offered in such a situation.

This is really fantastic. Thank you Logos. Much appreciated.

Thank you, LOGOS (for offering it for free) and SuperTramp (for bringing it to our attention)

Thank you, Logos, for this generous offer. Predictably the competition is not open to us non-US residents, but I understand the reason for that, and anyway would have been unlikely to win! But I am about to download the free book, which I MUCH appreciate.

Thanks so much for the heads-up, ST!

Yes, of course purchasing the set wouldn't affect my bottom line for this set, but it got me thinking about the process for other sets. There are some things I would enjoy purchasing from the Spurgeon collection now, like his sermons, but I don't want to pay an extra $200 bucks when the time comes for me to buy his whole collection because I got the sermons earlier.

I am sure there was a post dealing with this on the blog. I thought it was posted around August, September 2011, but I cannot, for the life of me, find it.
To the best of my recollection, the blog stated that discounts would apply to collections where items from that collection had been bought individually. Although the post specifically referred to commentary sets, I understood this principle to apply to all collections. It is my assumption that one would not necessarily receive a discount equal to the full amount of the individual item (as collections are often already discounted). I further presume that where the individual item is heavily discounted (or free) this would be reflected in any discount on the collection as a whole.
Please keep in mind that I am relying upon my increasingly unreliable memory. Someone may be more successful at locating the post and may provide the link. Alternatively, I would suggest you contact Customer Services for confirmation. You never know, they may be able to offer you a deal on the collection.

I have done some cursory searching, but it's tough to find a post like that. Too many key words in common with popular topics. And the forum search results leave a little to be desired (I don't need to see every post in a thread that matches my search results--I just need the main thread link).
I really appreciate you looking for it for me (and anyone else interested reading this), and thanks for writing what you recall. I will probably follow your advice (and others) of calling customer service if I'm in that situation. It sounds like they're really great on the phone and it seems like a great opportunity for some human interaction.
Okay, slightly different tangent now, if you're willing to bear with me. Going back to the Spurgeon collection (or even this Owen collection), all of that material is public domain. I know it would be a lot of work to manually collect it, but what would be the disadvantages to gathering all these works, making Personal Books and then loading them into Logos? Is the indexing different? Does it not go into the cloud? Do searches not work as seamlessly?
Thanks,
Bill

The free book is great, thanks Logos
The chance of winning the whole set is great; unless, like me, you live in the UK - free book is still great though [:)]

Understandable. I have seen Logos handle this situation three different ways:
- In the case of the Catholic Library Builder Logos did offer a slight reduction in price for customers that had already purchased substantial included resources. At first glance the discount did not look all that generous considering the money I had already laid out for the duplicated.resources. I believe I saved about $130 after having spent several hundred. But when I considered the very large savings of the introductory price of the Catholic Library Builder I was still happy to jump on it.
- In the case of the 2010 Christmas Master Collection Logos specifically stated a flat price for everyone, no matter how many duplicate titles a customer may already own. I had 800 titles already so my per-book price was more expensive than a new customer. But I still have the option of taking the duplicate resources I had already purchased and selling or giving them away. We can do that if we are not given any consideration towards an upgrade purchase. Conversely, if you get a discounted price because you already bought 6 volumes of a collection, you would not be allowed to sell the former licenses.
- On more than one occasion my Logos Sales Rep has been able to offer me a measure of discount because I had already purchased some titles from a collection. I don't usually get a any big discounts this way because I hardly ever buy resources near the regular price. So my Sales Rep does not have much room to work in. But it is still nice to save an extra $10 off a sale price because I already own some of the collection
One thing bears out every time. I save more money the bigger my purchase. If you are needing a certain book for a preaching series or class, it is sometimes worth it to buy individually.

Fascinating. I had no idea that you could sell or give away logos4 licenses. I have not seen anything like that in all the reading I've been doing. How does this work? Do you need to call Customer Service and ask them to transfer your license to another user?

It is covered in the Logos EULA at http://www.logos.com/ArticleViewer/2090
Have a look at the section titled "Transfers"

A phone call to Customer Service can get it done. There is a $20 transfer fee (per service, not license) so be sure you have gathered all the resources into the list before you initiate a transfer. If you miss one and call back next week you will generate another transfer fee.
It should also be obvious we can not go selling the license to a resource we have not completed payment for. Another thing to consider if you have been buying Logos resources for years and accumulated a big dollar number at the bottom of your order history, it may be difficult to find a buyer who can afford to purchase your library. Sam Walton lost over one billion dollars in one day because his Walmart stock is tied up in Walmart properties across the USA. It would require a second mortgage to acquire some Logos accounts. [:|] Just imagine what a great gift it would be to pass on to a loved one or young preacher.
That last sentence reminds me: Be sure to stipulate how you want your Logos library to be handled when you pass. I would not want my wife to have to go through probate just to secure the licenses. Logos recommends including it in your will.

First, You have to go through the free "purchase" process. That will put the license into your Logos 4 account.
Second, You need to synchronize your Libronix installation with the Logos servers. That puts the book license into your L3 library.
Third, You need to download this file: WORKSOWEN06.lbxlls into your Libronix resources folder.
The only problem may be in finding that file. When I just checked ftp://ftp.logos.com/lbxbooks/ I am not getting a page refresh. Could it be my internet service or possibly Logos rearranging stuff?
edit: Give the ftp index enough time to load and you will find the file towards the bottom. My poor little netbook is indexing Logos 4 while I was getting all the ftp data.

Option: can click on your order number => https://www.logos.com/user/orders (in Order History or Downloadable Libronix Files section)
Then click "Download Instructions for Previous Versions", followed by clicking "unlock" to download update.lbxupd
Running update.lbxupd can add license to Libronix 3 and download resource file.
Thankful for Logos restoring capability to download for previous versions to orders page; does not work for Vyrso resources nor for new resources initially shipped in 2012.
Keep Smiling [:)]

Yes, I jumped on it right away. Don't give in to the Temptation to procrastinate. It would be a Sin to miss out on this free book! .
I even entered the giveaway contest for the whole set. (I don't even know if I am allowed to enter, but I did anyway. [:D] There are approximately 10,000 entries in the drawing.

Goody! I will have to be sure not to open my Logos until after I dowload the new Free Book-Of-The-Month. I am downloading a Logos Credit order and do not want to re-index for just one book.
So be a good chap and post the new one at mindight (my time? [:D] 10pm Bellingham time.)
Thank you in advance Jonathan.

With Super Tramp's request, I'd like to add that I have not yet received the e-mail telling me I've won the Owen Collection this month. I checked my spam filter and it isn't there either.
I understand that if not this month, I can wait to win next month... I guess
please advise

Hi Jonathan,
Thank you! I do want to say, though, that since I haven't yet received a notification on any of these (that I recognized, anyway), I tried to sign up again this morning... and the list manager says it didn't add my email because I'm already subscribed. Hmmm.....
Thanks!
Grace & Peace,
