Finally - a complete wiki page detailing the differences between the verse mapping of all 105 Bible

It's been a long time coming, but you can see a complete picture of which bible datatypes support which verses. There are 105 different Bible datatypes in Logos, and each one supports slightly different verses. For example, in Genesis 31, most Bible support 55 verses, but some only 54 (because verse 51 is present in Hebrew manuscripts, but missing in Greek manuscripts). Of those that support 54 verses, some number them 1-54, others 1-55 but with v51 missing.

Anyway, you can now see every verse in every Bible datatype (there are more than 2.8 million verses!) on one wiki page:

    Thank you very much, Mark.

Do you still have this in DB form?  Is that available for use in other software?

The raw data is in a MySQL database with 2.8 million rows. Each row list a single verse in a single version. The summary on the Wiki is created from that database. Some random rows are shown below. The first row shows that Joshua 8:35 exists in the bible+bhs datatype, the second that Deuteronomy 25:10 exists in bible+ceb. There are up to 38,935 rows like that for each datatype (one for each verse in each book):

It's a 120Mb database, zippable to 16Mb if you want it. But whether it should be used in other software is not for me to say.

It's monumental work Mark. Thank you so much. If only I had it when I worked on a few of my PB Bibles. [:)]

It's a very good work, Mark.  I would like to have this DB.  In my current freeware Bible tool, I have mappings for English to Russian book-chapter-verse numbers and vice versa.  It was done manually by one person, and it works.  But basically I am judging whether a module is English-type or Russian-type only by the quantity of chapters in book number 45.  In Russian it's James, 5 chapters, in English it's Romans, 16 chapters :-)

Your way of mapping is more independent and universal for all available Bible modules.

My database doesn't map verses from one version to another. That is, it doesn't tell you that verse 12 in one version is equivalent to verse 15 in another version. It simply tells you which verses exist in which versions. But you're welcome to a copy. Send me your email address via http://www.4-14.org.uk/contact and I'll get it to you.

    Hello Mark:

Not really a comment regarding your post, but I am new to the forums and commented about the "voice of the unofficial logos videos saving my sanity" in regards to learning the software.  People here said it was the "sultry voice of Mark Barnes" and lo and behold...here you are!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU so much.  Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the time you put into those videos!  Practically everything I have learned about Logos is from YOUR videos.  It is a ministry in itself because I have to tell you that there were times I wanted to take a baseball bat to my computer!  Just short of the SLAM...I remember your videos and search for the topic I am looking for and listen to your voice that calms me down...and wouldn't you know it...I find I can DO IT!  I have sent all my friends the links to those videos, because now they are trying to figure out how I know "so much" (Ha ha ha) about the program...and I tell them I pretty much learned everything I know from YOU!  Your step by step instructions are clear, concise, not overly wordy, and relevant to the topic at hand!  So...Thank you from the very depths of my heart!  You have been invited in my home for the past year, and you have been a wonderful guest!  Praying God's blessings for you and yours, Cynthia
