First off, I think L4 is awesome! I have been a L3 power user for a few years, but I love all the new features of the new platform even more than all my customized settings of L3. Below are some things I would love to see added and/or fixed regarding L4:

  1. L4 seems to run very slow on my machine when I have multiple operations within L4 running. I have a Dell Vostro 1500 with 2GB of RAM and a CoreDuo T5270 processor @ 1.40GHz running Windows Vista Business Edition SP2, build 6002. I created a custom layout that includes the following panels all linked to one another: one containing 6 translations, one containing 5 commentaries, one containing a note file, one containing Bible Explorer set to "follow," and one containing the "Information" box. When doing normal operations such as scrolling, writing in the note file, and mouse-overs my CPU always runs at 100%. I realize that this is a lot of stuff to have open, but should it create this much system slow-down? L4 also runs a bit slow when I'm not using this specific layout, doing things such as search my library or creating collections. When L4 is closet my system runs quite quickly. Any thoughts?
  2. NoteFile formatting needs to include all of the functionality that L3 included. When using the bullet point feature in combination with the indent-increase feature there is an awkward space created between the previous line of text and the line containing the indented bullet point text. 
  3. When doing a mouse-over of a NoteFile icon in the text (bible, commentary, etc.) the formatting that the NoteFile actually contains (bullet points, indenting, etc.) is absent. The text appears unformatted and all mashed together.
  4. It would be awesome to have th ability to create hyperlinks across programs such as L4 and MS Office OneNote. For example, when taking notes in OneNote on "process theology" it would be great to be able to insert a hyperlink to open L4 to a specific resource of my choosing to "process theology." Is this an idea for L4 or OneNote? Haha!
  5. The ability to customize where the Home Page content is drawn from would be really great!

I realize that L4 is still a "baby" and that many bugs are most likely still in the process of being fixed, but these are some suggestions that I hope the Logos 4 team will eventually read and find helpful!

With your first point - I have a similiar setup - fill both my with windows and tabs, takes a few seconds to load the layout, or change to a different layout, but once its all open I'm impressed with how fast it is compared to L3. Having several windows open like this will slow the system down somewhat - but for me its still alot faster then L3.  Althought my CPU doesn't always run at 100% - if yours does  you've probably loaded it up too much I'd imagine.  My largest layout contains 18 tabs and 3 floating windows - which has 10 tabs and one window linked together -  which runs reasonably well -  I have a 2.53G dual core with 4G ram and dedicated graphics card though.    Once you start opening up large amounts of tabs you can expect your machine to get considerably slower - like any program that has multiple active windows open at the same time.   If its too slow I'd recommend trying to have less open at once.
