I recently learned this and have seen some questions about this. So here's how to set a default font in a notes file.
In your note file click on the note window pane and the hit ESC so that no note is actually active. Now select your default note font and styles and from then on the new notes will be created using this new font/style. Works for me.

Thanks. Would love to know if copy/paste would apply default font as this change takes up much of my time.

Do you mean if pasting puts the text in the notes box in the default font? What do you mean by it takes up much of your time?

Thanks Kevin, this is good to know!
EDIT: added to the wiki Notes page Tip: how to set default font in a notes file

Pasting other material that I have copied (e.g. info from a commentary) into my notes still does not put it in my chosen default (Optima). Instead it comes in as 'Helvetica'. So...taking my time...I highlight all and change font and size to Optima 12 pt.

That's the way it works. Although default font may be preferable, personally prefer that pasted text to retain formatting of original. If that means I would then need to change the font, I can live with it.

Jack,
I am exactly the opposite. Whenever I am in the creating process--including gathering notes--I like to use one font, one size, one color. So, it bothers me significantly when working with RTF technology that doesn't provide a "paste as text only" function--which would allow the pasted text to take on the fonts settings that I have chosen. So, I hope that Logos adds this simple possibility.
Hi Jackie
It certainly is strange that a 'built for the Mac from the ground up' program doesn't cater for the bog standard +alt+shift+v keyboard shortcut.
It makes one wonder how much trouble they went too to make sure that it didn't work.
Another of Logos' unique features. :-)

Kevin,
Bless You! I had enough of a carnal start this Monday morning, and constantly having to manually change my fonts was not helping at all...
Thanks for your contribution to my sanctification... ;)

The keyboard shortcut for Paste and Match Style (pasting as plain text), should be working in the next beta release for beta users and for stable users when 4.5b ships to the stable channel.

I notice that when I start typing in a note, it is not the default font but rather Athelas Logos However, when I hit Delete 1-2 times, then I start typing, it then types as my default font (Helvetica).
