We have a stalemate in Community Pricing on Revelation. There will be no progress until you lower your bid. It appears to me that you may be in a group of people that don't read the forums. If you do, respond on why we should all increase our bids to $160. If there is a good reason, I would be willing to listen.
A strong case can be made that if the high bidders drop to $60, we can all get the work for maybe $30 to $40, and it would cross the line in only a few weeks from now.
However, until thos high bids are dropped or overpowered, its going to sit there and never move ...
So, to get it sooner, please lower your bids ...

We're almost up to 50% at $50. Once we hit 60% that's kind of a momentum tipping point. Even if the $160 bidders refuse to lower their bids, if we could still encourage some more people to bid $50 we might make the $50 bump go up higher than the $160 bump which I think is critical to making this go into production. But lowering that daunting $160 bump would sure help.

I don't do a lot of these community pricing, but what kind of screwy system keeps a product from going into production until people lower their bid? Obviously this wasn't well thought out when they set up the algorithms that determine this stuff.

It's not a screwy algorithm, it's psychology.
If people lower their bid from $160 to the current lower peak of $50, the lower peak of $50 won't change at all (since the $160 bidders are already included in it) but the $160 peak will go down, so actually in the short term, it will seem like we're making it farther away from going into production. But many of us believe it will actually have the psychological effect of bringing in more bidders at $50 who would otherwise not have given this collection a second look because at $160 it seems way overpriced to them. Then finally, it will be able to gain enough momentum to go over the top. That's the theory anyway, but it hasn't been working because those $160 bidders are so set in their ways. They really, really want this collection and are willing to pay that much for it. They fear that if they lower their bid they might miss out on it. (That's actually not true anyway; if it does somehow manage to go over 100% at a higher price than what you bid, you get an email letting you know that so you can raise your bid back up and not miss out on it.) They don't realize that they might actually be causing a much longer delay for everyone, and it might never make it over the top at that price.
I have been in at $50 for ages now, because that's all I'm prepared to pay. If it goes for $160, then so be it. It's not worth that to me!

We will get many more new bidders when $50 becomes the price likely to succeed. Many people won't bid now because the targeted price is more than they wish to pay.
The difference between the $50 bump and the $160 bump is less than 10% now! All we need is just a few more $160 bidders to lower their bids to $50 and the psychological effect will kick in. Suddenly we'll be able to start pushing this set as going for $50 and more people will jump on it. Please, you $160 folks. Just try it. Take the risk. You won't regret it.

This pop-up message is deceptive and unfortunately helps perpetuate the problem. For quite a while I kept moving my bid back and forth between $160 and $50 because this pop-up message made me afraid I might miss out on this collection. But you won't. If you read your email every day, you will see the email message that comes once it has gone over the top, and you will have a chance to bump your bid back up if necessary. But if we keep this up, we'll make it go over the top at $50 instead of $160, so you won't have to even bother changing your bid. I finally became convinced of this and am sitting tight at $50 now.
For some reason mine says "You bid $31.00 on 11/2/2010." I don't have any warning about raising my bid because $31 doesn't exist on the graph! I wonder if my bid is being counted. If not, it would explain why this resource only has high bids...

I actually had to hover over the red bar where my bid was located in order for that warning to appear.
I'm not sure how your bid could have become $31, but maybe they adjusted the scale at some point and that was what you had bid on the old scale. Anyway, you can rebid at any time to be sure you've bid something that will get counted. I'd suggest a bid of $50. It's quite possible the final price will end up lower, and you'd get it for the lower price if that were the case.
I am humbly requesting the people who bid various amounts, please bring down your bid to $50. If we keep the uniformity, we can get this collection very soon. Someone is sitting on $170. You never miss this resource, if you have activated the email alert. Good luck everyone.
