Oh come on! How can people be more interested in Chronicles than Revelation?!

This one just showed up in CP a week or two ago and is already nearly over the top:

This one has been in CP for almost a year, I think (can't remember when I first bid on it, because the date showing now is when I last lowered my bid back down to $50 finally...to stay for the duration).

What gives? Why would people be willing to bid $25 for 7 volumes on one (actually two) of the dullest and most redundant books of the Bible, but not $50 for 27 volumes on the most exciting and unique book of the Bible? I don't get it.

Its current CP price is the main factor. I also think there may be other reasons (my opinions):

- most people can relate to the human stories that are (re-)told in Chronicles

- in the Logos library, there are not many full-set commentaries on the Chronicles

- Revelation may be the topic in Sunday school or small groups, but not often a book taught in church services

- Revelation is much more difficult to understand and probably more controversial

Maybe once some of the many CP titles that are over 60% (> 1/3 of them) get through the finish line and there are fewer to choose from, and people recover from the credit card shock, they'll start bidding on this and some of the others that remain.

Suspect estimated production cost for 1,370 pages in 7 volumes is significantly less than estimate for 12,448 pages in 27 volumes (perhaps an order of magnitude difference), yet $ 50 is twice as much as $ 25.

With $ 50 bids by Logos user community, guessing five times more Logos users need to bid $ 50 (or more) on the 27 Classic volumes for Revelation to cover 100 % of estimated production cost compared to Classic Chronicle collection.

I often wander if the problem is that perhaps some of the people that bid $160 are no longer interested/use logos, so they have no reasons to keep track of how these bids are doing? Or perhaps it is all par of great conspiracy to keep the truth about the end of times hidden from us? I'm not sure what to believe here.

I'm not sure I understand. I just finished a 1 1/2 year study of Revelation with my Sunday School class. I would love the Revelation Resource, but $160 is a LOT of money. Can I bid $50 even though it's listed at $160? I realize that I won't get it for $50 if it costs more to produce, but if others get interested won't that drop the price. My concern is if I bid $50 and it goes for $160 will I have time to bid that before it goes for $934.95?

On previous collections that I have purchased, Logos always gives me a heads up BEFORE the pricing closes, so I would assume that you would get a chance to increase your bid, if need be. I was at $160.00 but dropped it to $50.00 in hopes that it will get moving...

Apologies: not know how many more new $ 50 bids and/or drop of $ 160 bids are needed until projected price drops to $ 50, which would be an awesome bargain for 12,448 pages by 20 authors with many volumes so a bid of $ 160 is (was) worthwhile for many Logos users.

Note: for $ 50 bids to cover 100 % of estimated production cost, needs 220 % more bidders than $ 160; yet Logos user community is growing so wonder about attractiveness of $ 50 projected price.

The Revelation set needs bidders in at $50; the $160 bid has just increased again, but it won't go over at $160 - it's been stuck there for something like two years; the $50 bump was started about six months ago and has increased substantially. New bids at $50 is the only way we'll see this set.

I think this may be the strongest "argument" to Logos for allowing a longer window between the time it goes over the top & the time it closes... even if they want to freeze it on the same schedule, it still seems like a short window for someone who's traveling to be able to participate. Where this gets into a "fairness" issue is when it's a strong supporter of CP...

Yup, it was no more than about 2-3 weeks. I posted on March 13 (beginning of this thread) that it had just showed up in CP "a week or two ago." I was really surprised at how fast it was going. On Jan 29, Paul Newsome listed Chronicles as among the Classic Commentaries sets that were still not in CP yet. So at the very earliest they might have showed up in early Feb. But I am pretty sure it was more towards the end of the month or early March. I keep an eye on CP every couple of days and would have noticed as soon as it showed up.
