Great delaying tactics guys. If this had gone over an hour earlier it would have closed this Friday probably at $50. As it is, with 9 days to go, it'll almost certainly drop to $40 now.
I'm not sure how this works since this is the first time I've done this. I received the email telling me that I had a successful bid at $50. So if I lower it to $40 is there the chance I miss out if the price doesn't get lowered to $40 or am I locked in?

If bid is lowered to $ 40, but not enough bids are placed at $ 40 to cover 100 % of estimated production costs, then $ 40 bid would miss out.
If keep bid at $ 50 and enough bids are placed at $ 40 to cover estimated production costs, a pre-publication order is created for $ 40.
Credit card is charged when pre-publication ships, which may take awhile; ranging from a few weeks to a year (or more). More pages typically take bit longer to digitize and proofread.

No. Leave your bid at $50. If the price finishes at $50 or less you'll get it for the lowest price. If you reduce your bid you might well miss out.
Just raised my bid from $30 to $40. This will be a great resource!
BTW James, I usually underbid just about every resource that I'm interested in and wait for the e-mail telling me that Logos is getting close to closing the bidding and then I'll raise it to what I'm comfortable paying. Community Pricing is by far the best way to buy resources you need and want.

Of course, you do realize that by bidding the peak price you're contributing nothing to getting the price down? You're just taking advantage of the price-drop that people like rksaw and myself have contributed to make happen.
You seem blissfully unaware of the fact that not everyone bathes in money. For some of us it's more important with a low price than with a fast production, when it comes to many of these old works. Yes, there are a very small number of CP's I'm so eager to get that I've bid the going price (or even higher), but for the most part I'd rather wait another year than pay $20 more, and your insistence on speed over price just means I have to miss out altogether.

No need to argue. Your both right. The only ones who can trigger the bid to pass over are those who didnt bid high to begin with. What a special place to be, to act as a trigger.
