NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS ISSUES

I have noticed something very disturbing with my notes and my highlights (I use the latest logos update)

1. I have placed a large number of notes on my logos, copying and pasting from logos commentaries that I deem important.

2. I have created my own highlights with pictures (from google images) and use it extensively to underline, add new palettes, etc. Lately, I have noticed that they have begun to duplicate or worse, when I highlight a verse with a note and try to erase the highlight color, the entire note jumps from one side of the verse to the middle or even the end. It also creates automatically another note that I did not plan to add. When this happens I have to delete it manually which forces me to undo and re-do it again.

3. I have used both Mac and windows and have see the exact same problem. In Mac the computer crashed all the time after I either looked on a note or tried to change it. I no longer have a Mac.

In windows 7 (I have 1T hardrive and 8gb of Ram), has already begun to cause some problems, like having to click several times on one particular pallet before logos responds.

By the way, I have erased a whole lot of highlights and notes that I previously had as Logos experts suggested, but I consider then that logos is limited to this kind of "workload." Am I wrong?

My question is whether logos can handle this kind of usage and what do I do to avoid these issues besides deleting the work I have done.

Hi Joseph, I was wondering if you typically left Logos 4 open on both your Mac and Windows machine at the same time? This may explain the duplicate note files you are witnessing. We have a command in Logos 4 that will delete duplicate note files. The command is, Remove Duplicate Notes.

Regarding what you describe in bullet point #2, where you describe your difficulties with the note feature,I'm a little unclear as to what you are doing. You indicate you are highlighting a verse with a note, and then you try to delete the highlight. Do you want to delete the note, or just the highlight? The only way to delete the note is by either highlighting the text again, right clicking, and selecting Remove Annotation, or deleting it from the Notes panel. If you want to just delete the highlight color but want to leave the note indicator follow the below instructions.

Navigate to the Note in its respective Note File.
Click the Note indicator icon to the left of the citation.
Under Note Highlight select No Highlight.

That should leave the actual annotation, and Note indicator, while deleting the highlight from the text. The jumping of the note, and automatic creation of another note I think I would have to witness to comprehend better and explain.

I only have one computer in the house. I sold my Mac after I deleted everything (brought it to factory settings).

On the other hand, what I usualy do is add personal notes to some of the verses I read. When I do that sometimes the new note is doubled even before I begin to write my thoughts. This forces me to delete one of the them (which of course is empty and would remain empty if I leave it alone).

Secondly, I see that when I try to see some of my notes to correct some grammar, the entire page of notes begins to vibrate. This also forces me to close the page and try again. Sometimes I try 2-4 times before the note page is "normal" again.

Hi Joseph,

What you are describing is sounding increasingly like a video card issue. Have you attempted to update your video card driver lately? It may also be faster to get to the bottom of the issue if you called us when you get a chance. 800-875-6467.

Sorry, I can't, I dont know how, besides this is something that doesn't happen all the time... However, if I continue to add notes or visual filters all the problems return. One problem that I see regularly is when I click over my notes, the entire page begins to vibrate. In order to fix it, I would have to close the note file and try again. Sometimes it takes me several times before the page is back to normal. For the most part if I want to click over File, Guides or Tools including pallets, I have to do it over and over again. In the beginning I thought it was my computer, but after I saw it happen in another, I realized it was Logos. Right now I only have one computer (windows) which for all intents and purposes is brand new with pleny of memory (8gb of Ram and 1T of hard drive)

Something else that happens and it drives me crazy is when I move my mouse around a chapter immediately another page comes up which I did not intend to see. As an example a page of "Dictionary Bible Themes" came up just because my mouse rested on a word...

Really weird.

One option is calling Logos tech support to show the problems when adding notes or visual filters while Logos is remotely watching your computer desktop (with your permission).
