As many as you personally need to use it on...

The detail is in the EULA, accessible from the help menu...

Thomas,

While it can be installed on as many computers as you'd like, like Damian said, The license is for one user (which is ambiguously defined). What's clear is that this excludes roommates, friends, etc. etc. You're wife (if you're married) appears to be fine, unless she would buy the product on her own and use it extensively if you didn't have it (i.e. she teaches regularly, is working on a degree, etc.). Bob has a lengthy post on this, but I can't find it at the moment. Perhaps someone else can better clarify.

David,

You nailed the essence of it.

Perhaps someone else can better clarify.

There definitely was a different version from Customer Service somewhere in the 2 months (during beta testing) before L4 was released.

Knowing the limit under the L3 version: Max 2 computers per user, and already having "my" Logos 3 on two computers (church's laptop and home tower), I therefore bought an additional base package (MUCH lower level than mine) for our 3rd computer, mostly for my wife.

[During beta testing there was an allowance for multiple computers so that testers could compare differing hardware setups. Some may have had it on up to 4 machines.]

Knowing L4 was coming I tried to see if I could at least "merge" my & my wife's separate licenses, so that I would not have to spend a lot of money upgrading when L4 was finally released - at that point I wrongly assumed it wouldn't be until next year. If I'd known it would be within days or at most a week or two, I probably would have re-thought the situation.

TWO CS reps (yes, I phoned twice) said NO to "merging" - the licenses HAD to stay separate, and repeated (very strongly) 2 computers max! And there was no doubt in either's mind about either issue (merging - which I had hoped to do OR the 2 max - which I could reluctantly live with as that has always been Logos' position). They didn't ask how long I had been a customer or how much I had spent through the years. I guess they could see that on their account screens.  I reluctantly thanked them and hung up. [This was before the L4 "madness" hit the CS phone-lines].

So, having had Logos for over ten years, when L4 came out I bite the bullet and upgraded hers as well as mine.

So yes, she now has a (very) nice upgraded copy of her very own Logos 4.

Was I happy? Not so much.

"Bob" has said he doesn't like to have to make these policies, but that people continue to deliberately try to rip him off (for a Christian product, no less).

Unfortunately, the rest of the customers pay the price.

Now (in L4) it appears there has been a softening of this stance, according to the (new) EULA?

Hopefully it does not depend on which CS rep you may (or may not) get.

Please just do not assume anything.

Steve

(After re-reading Bob's July post)

As always Bob is much more generous than some of his staff (after all, as owner, I guess he is allowed).

And yes, I also read that back in July.

But the spirit of it had certainly not filtered down to the 2 CS reps I spoke to in  October.

Small surprise.  Bob's frustration with having to deal with it, seems to be mirrored in the reps.  The problem is, as soon as a "line is drawn" the sinful nature starts stepping over it. (Or trying to).

Thomas, I got a very unexpected phone call this evening after supper from a very gracious lady at Logos.

ALL my licensing issues have been resolved!

Thank you very much Logos
