Personal books two computers not syncing

I created a PBB on my desktop.  When I tried to open it on my laptop, L4 said I don't have a license to do so.  I wrote to Logos support - no answer.  I then created a Personal Book on my laptop and got the same response when I tried to open that one on my desktop.

Any suggestions?

TIA, jim

    Hi Jim

    Currently PBB's don't synch :-(

The workaround is to compile the PBB on both computers.

If your PBB's are static (i.e. the content doesn't change much) then this is just an inconvenience. Regularly changing PBB content, however, becomes a bit unpleasant, especially if you use many computers.

    Jim -

As Andy said, personal books don't sync. The metadata (book title, author, etc) does, but currently the book has to be compiled on each computer. An alternative is to move the compiled book file manually. Logos has said that they hope to have sync for personal books in the future, but have given no time line for when this may occur. Practically speaking, imagine the amount of server space Logos will have to add to allow us to do this… If you have a "logos edition" of "Book A," Logos only has to have one copy of the book for as many users who own it. On the other hand, if you have a "personal book" of "Book B," Logos will have to have one copy per user, which could turn into tens of thousands of copies (if that many users created their own PB of that resource)!

Thanks much guys.  Knowing the answer is 1/2 the battle.  I'll stop trying to make it "work."  I don't mind compiling on both computers and I understand the problem.  I just didn't know the answer.  Does anyone know how to move a personal book to my Android so I can read these on the road?

There is (currently) no support for personal books on the mobile app. You can use the .docx file or convert to .epub or .pdf to use in another app.

Other option is to compile Personal Book on one computer, then copy *.lbspbb file so can use scan command in Logos 4 on other computer(s), see reply => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/42036/313207.aspx#313207

Thankful for scan command option when can build a docx file using Logos 4 Windows 7, but building same doc on Logos 4 Mac fails.

The personal book metadata includes when resource was last built; copy and scanning keeps same last built date and time.

    Keep Smiling [:)]

I got ya dude, heres the skinny:

Compile it on one computer, Then take the docx file and put it in the same location on the other[as close as possible] after the sync is done and it gives the “you must own…” then open the pb by way of the ‘tools’ à ‘personal books’ à’xxx’. It will show the triangle’d error thingiee which you will have to delete. Then add the file you brought over and rebuild…..you are good to go….

    hope this helps...
