I really only want certain commentaries, but I see that a lot of these require me buying a huge set.  Will you ever offer single works in a collection?  I sure hope so.

It depends on the collection and the publisher.  Most collections get broken up eventually.  Many commentary sets are available individually.  Some, like the New International Commentary on the OT/NT, have been repeated requested to be broken up, but it seems that contractual agreements don't allow it yet.

Which commentaries are you specifically interested in?

(P.S. I don't work for Logos.)

If you have a preferrance you can post it here and they will read it, but remember it is a 'suggestion'........but many may chime in and speak out......

They are in fact a few from the NIC on OT/NT.  I really want Gordon Fee's 1st Corinthians (it is sold in Spanish individually) and 1st and 2nd Letters to the Thessalonians.  There are some other ones from Mounce (Revelations) or F. F. Bruce (Hebrews).  I like a few particular commentaries, but am not in a position to buy them all or a collection like this.  I think anyone who wants to seriously study the cessationist or non-cessationist perspectives, needs Fee's work if they are going to use Matthew Henry or John MacArther.

Have you heard if this giant work will either sell individual ones, have a 2 year payment plan, or allow us to buy one like a book of the month club?  Geeked

Robert depending on the cost you could spread a payment plan to 18 months for this set.

I hear you and agree that it's a problem.  Logos is behind the curve on selling NICOT/NICNT for some reason. Perhaps because they had it first means that the contract is more restrictive.

I can buy individual volumes of the NIC commentaries in Accordance, WordSearch, BibleWorks, and Kindle, but not Logos.  It seems that Logos needs to get competitive in this area.

While there is no interest charge, there is a $5/mo service fee.  For 18 months this would amount to $90.  You need to calculate whether the additional service fee makes the purchase now desirable or whether it is more important to get the resource at once.  Saving to purchase the resource might be a better choice.  Of course, this can only be done with regular purchases and cannot be done with prepubs since payment comes due at publication.

I'm paying for the Scholar Edition for several months. I had not used this software since college. When i was in Bible college and could not afford it and they had no college or seminary discounts (I'm confessing and making it right), my buddy and I paid 1/2 each ($300 per student) and just shared it. He went on to be a pastor and I worked. I quit using it (it was in his name) but really, really missed it. At a men's conference, they had a sale and a payment plan, so I bought it. I'm still paying but want to switch all my my hard copies over to the digital format. I have BibleSoft and Olivetree in most of these works because I could buy one here and on there. I should have bought this a while back. Also, the big price tag seemed too much. Having used the others, I can say it is worth it. Even if it will take me 3 years to get there. :-)

I know now they really work with students (which is awesome), so I'm planning on getting there. I just cannot afford $1500 for a whole collection, even over 18 months.

Logos has sales regularly, and NICOT/NT has been on sale a couple times (I think $1000 is the best its ever been).

Being a person who is paying the $5/month payment for the 12 months for Scholar Edition (well worth it!), I am fine with them having being compensated for the liability and risk they are taking in extending payments.  I appreciate them doing this.  I allows me to even consider such a work.

I just cannot afford $1500.  That is the cost of a full month's rent and would be very selfish and unfair to my family.  Small purchase like a single work are justifiable and even Birthday, Anniversary, and Father's Day worthy.  It is just a hope of mine that the tools become a bit easier to own for most.  As one person noted, almost everyone else I know sells them individually.

I would love to have the Anchor Bible Commentaries broken up.

I would prefer the entire book rather than just a portion.  [Ignore this.  I'm just being silly]  Big Smile
