Can notes be downloaded to the ipad so they are available when working offline? I use my ipad when traveling for sermon and devotional work.

Notes are not "downloaded" as a separate feature... they are "synced," and yes, they are available offline. You should be aware, however, that only individual notes attached to a "selection" or "reference" are viewable on the mobile app. If you have unattached notes or clippings, those are not viewable.

thanks, now to redo all my notes so they are attached to a ref. Yuck!

They do NOT have to be attached to a reference… they could be attached to a selection as well. ALL highlights are notes by selection. ALL notes which have a note indicator within a resource are notes by selection OR reference. The "homeless" notes are ones, created in the note file, unattached to any resource selection or reference.
