Hi everyone,

I am completely new to Logos and I am kind of having a "Deer in the headlights" experience with all of the information and tools at my disposal.  I was wondering if anyone could recomend a "set up" or a guide on how to do a topical bible study so that as I do my daily readings, I can add verses to different topics that I have saved in notes.

Also, I would like to do a general book by book/chapter by chapter study and wonder what "set-up" you would recomend for that?

Loving this software, just need to get a handle on it.

God bless!

Neil

  1. Something to start with, $25, would be: http://www.logos.com/product/7857/the-fundamentals I haven't looked at it so as to be able to tell exactly how many Bible references a page it has on an average. But it sells well so I guess people find use for it.
  2. As for the general book by book/chapter by chapter study I would advice staying away from so called study Bibles. Did You buy a base-package? - in that case in some of the base-packages there are topical "Bibles" included, use the search: http://www.logos.com/products/search?q=topical&Resource+Type=Topical Look at the colour of the order-button, if it's gray You allready have the item in Your package. Then start Logos, click the library-button in the upper left corner (the one that looks like a half-open book) and start typing any of the words in the title of that item You saw - You'll find it, then click to open it and start reading.
  3. If You didn't buy a base package there are better ways to do this than to pay for a topical "Bible". Other's may help as I rarely buy very brief commentaries. The briefest commentaries I own are: http://www.amazon.com/SAINT-LUKE-G-B-CAIRD/dp/B000SCARXU/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&sr=1-2 and http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=knight+peter+jude. I recommend these 2. Here's an excerpt from the latter: http://www.christianforums.com/t7655702/#post60499710

FWIF, this is like asking 100 bakers what their favorite recipe for a Christmas dinner.  Here is how I do my study.  I simply have the window divided in half.  On the left side I have the passage guide, the RCL, NRSV, text comparison, and a clipping open.  On the right side I have open the commentaries and note files that I use.
