On my iPad I primarily use Logos with a Bible open on the left hand side of a split screen and a commentary on the right hand side. These two resources are set to stay in sync. If I bring up my reading plan (in the left hand panel) and touch a link, Logos predictably brings my Bible back up and advances to the location where I am scheduled to read. The commentary still appears in the right hand split of the screen. Here's the weird part... If I decide to turn back a page in the Bible (to remind myself of the context of the upcoming text) the commentary panel becomes greyed out! It will continue to advance as the pages of the Bible are turned (so it is still linked properly) but I cannot manually advance it. The only way to normalize the panel is to go back and reset the RH panel resource. What in the world? Seems like a bug to me. I don't see how this is a useful feature. Is there a way to prevent this bizarre behavior? Steve

Hi Steve

This sounds similar to what is discussed at http://community.logos.com/forums/t/54670.aspx

So it looks as though there might be an underlying problem.

I can reproduce what you describe by following the steps you outline.

Hopefully this will give the people at Logos a way of reproducing this and identifying the problem.

Graham

Steve - If you are still able, can you amend your subject line with the prefix BUG: ?

Thanks Steve! That should help get the thread noticed sooner by Logos. Smile

Steve,

I can also duplicate this bug by following these steps:

1) Make sure split screen is in use

2) Guide to Documents

3) Open a Reading Plan

4) Click on a reading for the day

5) Swipe to turn the page of the first pane.

At that point, the subsequent split pane goes grey and you can't activate it without going back to your resource window.

I think support will be able to get to the bottom of this more quickly if either David or Steve (really anyone that can reproduce the behavior) can call us at 800-875-6467 at their earliest convenience. I can tell there is some nuance in Steve's steps I'm not getting because I was unable to reproduce the behavior.  We're open Monday through Friday 8am-5pm PST.

I called technical support.  Once I got past the long hold message and canned announcements (about 10 minutes) I walked the rep through the problem (which I not replicate until the third try, and the rep never could replicate).  The solution was:

wait for it...

"Uninstall and then reinstall Logos on your iPad."

How frustrating.  I'm not blaming the rep.  I know how difficult it is for them to hear of a problem and not be able to replicate it.  But, I know that I now face a long download, app install, re-download of resources...  with no real promise of a resolution.

Perhaps Logos should provide a "would you like to download your previously installed resources?" option, along with a list of the previously installed resources for us to either uncheck or leave checked for automatic download?

I've done this before.  I really am not looking forward to doing it again.

I'll report back on any change with regard to this problem.

Update: Absolutely no change.  I still have the problem.  The only thing that changed was it occurred the very first time I tried to replicate it.

Hi Steve,

Thank again for contacting us on this issue. After we talked to you on the phone we were able to re-create this issue on a different iPad. This issue doesn't seem to be consistent, but it still is happening on multiple devices. We have brought this to the attention of our development team, and we will be working on a fix as soon as possible. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. We will give you an update as soon as we know what is happening.
