In LHI [the Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear] there is a footnote at Genesis 15:14 [footnote #9 at the word judging] which lists BHRG §20.3, 1.2 as a reference. Is there a way to search LHI for any other verses containing this reference?

Yes. Do a Basic Search All Text in LHI for <BHRG = A Biblical Hebrew Reference Grammar §20.3.1.2>.

I get 149 results in 108 articles .

You can derive this by clicking on the footnote 9, right-clicking on the BHRG footnote in the window, select "A Biblical Hebrew..." in the right pane (NOT "Selection"), and then click on "Search this resource" in the left pane. It will bring up a Search window that does a Bible search, you just have to click "Basic Search" and it works.

I couldn't figure a way in Logos4. To get to the footnotes, you use a Basic search and then click on the 'Footnote' level. But searching for BHRG etc got me nowere (actually crashing Logos4, which is unusual for me).

In Libronix, I didn't have any problem pulling the BHRG and/or reference; the easy way is to click on the footnote and then rightclick, selecting the full reference and then 'Search'.

EDIT: Just saw Dominick's answer and switching the search type after the right click. Of course in Libronix you can choose the search from the right-click menu.

Thanks, Dominick. But for some reason I am not getting anything [as you can see from the screen shot below].

Just a minor typo in Dominick's reply. Substitute BHRG §20.3, 1.2 (as in your original query) and it works as helpfully detailed by Dominick.

Thanks, MG. But, for some reason, I can't seem to get anything. For example, I tried searching with <BHRG §20.3.1.2> and nothing comes up.

The string needs to be 20.3 [comma] [space] 1.2 (as was in your first post). That is what you are looking for, and using it I got the same results as Dominick.

Try <BHRG = A Biblical Hebrew Reference Grammar §20.3, 1.2>, Basic Search in Footnotes.

<BHRG §20.3, 1.2>  offers extra results for you to explore.

Folks, there was no typo in what I showed as I did copy and paste. Here is a screen shot, it works here exactly as I stated. Maybe there is an indexing problem on your Logos? As an aside, I found a couple of weeks ago that two Logos 4 searches on different machines gave different results. I did a 'reindex all' and they were both identical again. I suspect there is a bug in indexing that causes things to get messed up infrequently, but that's just my opinion. Maybe someone sees something else different from my screen shot and what was attempted..

DMB - this is very simple to do in Logos 4. If you spent the time learning Logos that you spend trolling when people are asking honest questions for help, you would know how by now. If you think you are helping anyone who needs support by using their question as an advertisement for why you like Logos 3 better, all I can say is it's getting to be a very old trick. Maybe you could be more courteous and stop confusing the attempts and work we do trying to help people.

I believe that what you say is my problem, Dominick. I tried this search on another computer with my program - and your suggestion worked perfectly. I am going to rebuild my index. Thanks.

Part of the confusion is the way the LHI quotes the reference (with a comma) and then way the Context menu quotes it (no space, no comma). Anyway, I was able to get the results with a Basic Search as you indicated. So there is no index problem...

Bill, you don't need to index!

Dominick, my apologies. When Bill said he was still having problems I made assumptions, one of which concerned the difference between how the reference is described in the footnote and the way Logos searches for it. Mea culpa!

The beauty of the way you detailed is of course that following your instructions does not involve typing anything and therefore the possibility of typos is removed. Thanks.

I did reindex - and the search worked as Dominick suggested - however the original reference [Gen 15:14] was not listed. So there is not quite perfection with the search. [I got the same results as you did Dominick: 149 results in 108 articles.]

I should add: THANKS, Dominick for this excellent technique.

There is a small '2x' on the righthand side of the entry for 'Chapter 15 (Ge 15:3)'. The first search hit is the one named (Ge 15:3) the other is Ge 15:14 which is properly highlighted in the LHI Bible (while the search panel is open). On reflection, I guess that the information in the title should have given the clue: 149 hits in 108 articles.

I realise that I expect a list of individual hits from a search but need to remember that Logos consistently reports search results in this way and therefore keep a look out for the '2x's and the '3x's.
